Graham, TX -- Officers with the Graham police department are currently under investigation by the Texas Rangers after they handcuffed a teen with autism and then tasered him outside of his home. Cops reportedly mistook his autism for drug use.

Although the body camera footage shows the entire interaction, police are refusing to release it to the public. This is in spite of a Freedom of Information Act Request made by WFAA. Although police claimed that Moore was running when they arrived, she said her son actually approached officers in an area that is essentially the family's backyard.

"Police then feared for their lives that Michael may try to use the other end of the handcuffs as a weapon -- which he did not -- and then they began tasering him."

Too many cops are bad hombres looking to rumble, preferably with weak victims. Because winning.

Is it that cops think tazering is necessary just to shut someone up? Danger has nothing to do with it?

I'm serious. I don't know the rules about using one of those things.

First who calls the cops on an autistic kid throwing rocks at a fence?

If you've ever met an autistic kid, or had to discipline or convince them to do something, you'd know yelling and screaming at then only confuses them more, and makes the more erratic and unwilling to cooperate. Takes a patient low key approach, these cops apparently didn't have a very long talk with the kid before doing all this. Truly sad.....

I know a lot of good LEO's, but these kind of incidents are becoming way to regular and dwarfing the efforts of the ones that are good at their jobs.

This is why I never saw body cams as a panacea to fix this. If it's good, the cops release it.

If it's bad, they simply stonewall.

Allowing them to self-police will mean this problem never gets better.

Cops are trained to cuff suspects up. When people don't comply the taser comes out. I doubt these cops get in any trouble. It is unfortunate this happened but since there was not any permanent injury I doubt anything happens except maybe some extra training.

#8 nothing is a panacea, this is a town of 9000 people ,it's Mayberry.

You enlightened folks talk about autism and ADD and such but we call them what they are, -------.
And the only thing that can fix them is the belt.

Oops sorry,
It's great to be a kid.
No it's not, it's great to be Emmancipated.

I wonder if a taser would work on legs.

Why do you always come up with stupidity??? I get leg cramps and leg pain. I wonder if a taser would zap them away.

It's truly alarming to learn that cops have harnessed the power of autism to restrain potential suspects.

#11 I have been, but it was voluntary. It's not fun, but vastly less horrible of an experience than pepper spray.
