Paul Manafort has been behind bars ever since a federal judge in Washington, D.C. revoked his pre-trial release for violating his bail conditions as he faces money laundering charges. According to a new court filing that his attorney submitted to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, the former Trump campaign manager isn't just behind bars, he's in solitary confinement.

Oh hell and he hasn't flipped yet??? There's only one person I'd do solitary for and that's pops. Everyone else is on their own.

My God............. He must be the worst criminal ever.

Not the worst. But, pretty bad.

Manafort could get 305 years in prison.

That's pretty serious.

But, obviously not near as serious as putting your toe across an imaginary line in the sand.

"he hasn't flipped yet?"

Nor will he.

Manafort fears the Russians MUCH more than he fears American jails. Those two poisoned in England might've just been a very loud message aimed at PM.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh good point. I didn't think of that. Yeah give me solitary PLEASE.

He is so screwed. A 70+ year old man stuck in the solitary confinement cells of a Federal Jail. Lock down 23+ hours a day. ------ food. And the constant shouting of the guys in the adjoining solitary confinements, trying to pass the time with loud conversation. He may not flip on Trump. But Manafort is paying the price. Even if the Federal charges were to be dismissed at some later time, he is suffering right NOW. I have to imagine a lot of pressures are being brought to bear behind the scenes.

Agreed, but the passage of time and the events that have lead him to solitary (witness tampering being the #1 reason to isolate him), it seems to me that he doesn't have much to offer at this point so they are just going to take him down for his money laundering. As a defense attorney, you know how this works...if he had something for the prosecutors that was of high value they would have wrung it from him much earlier than this. He could be holding out in some misguided loyalty to Donnie Little Hands but I am doubtful that is the case given what has happened to date. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would be so steadfast in his loyalty that he would stay silent.

He is probably rightfully afraid of the Russians but that is most likely related to his retroactive admission of taking millions in payments from a foreign power from 2007 to 2012 and not to his actions as Campaign Manager from May to August 2016.

Two hours to his lawyers two back plus he spends at least an hour talking to them.

Cushiest solitary ever.

Yeah I never thought I'd say that either.

Well god I hope so, he's innocent until proven guilty by a jury of his peers.

Manafort trial does have Trump link, Mueller team says

Prosecutors for special counsel Robert Mueller intend to present evidence at the trial of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort that a banking executive allegedly helped Manafort obtain loans of approximately $16 million while the banker sought a role in the Trump campaign.

Manafort faces trial on bank fraud and other financial charges in the Eastern District of Virginia beginning July 25. Until now, there had been no indication that his role in the Trump campaign would become part of the trial, and he had asked the judge to keep details about his ties to President Donald Trump out of the trial. Prosecutors say any alleged collusion with the Russian government won't come up at the trial.

The allegation of a possible quid pro quo came amid several court filings Friday as both sides count down the remaining weeks until the trial. While prosecutors filled in the Trump campaign details, Manafort's team was busy filing requests with the judge to move his trial location and date, to look into possible leaks from the prosecutors and to keep Manafort out of the public eye.

What has he been convicted of? Don't you believe in giving a person a fair trial first?

When you start tampering with witnesses this is what happens to you.

it's highly doubtful that he's in actual 'solitaire'..more like segregated population. you can see and talk to other people..no physical contact

#15 | Posted by ABlock at 2018-07-07 10:04 AM | Reply

30 days in the hole probably beats being on the road crew, or worse, the team that picks up corpses. Considering his status as being held for trial, Manafort would be segregated to an extent. In general population he would be a mark for sexual assault or murder...

Can someone with knowledge explain why that would be? I noticed some articles mentioned he was in solitary for his own safety. Is it the notoriety? The fact that he's associated with Trump?

When you start tampering with witnesses this is what happens to you. Or merely preparing a defense. The American "Justice" System doesn't like it when a defendant can actually prepare a proper defense.

sexual assault = BS
physical harm...read about jack ruby. read it in the context of the JFK assassination. do you think trump would like to hear that manafort died?
he's in seg...no way comparable to solitaire you get when you beat the crap out of someone

That jail is where they have sent high profile prisoners in the past, and they put them in solitary confinement for their own protection:

He needs to go to a normal prison, and be in the general population. Then let nature take its course. He'll either off himself, or sing like a canary.

He is in a position he never imagined in a million years he would be in. Manafort was not built for prison. I think he if has info, he will flip.
