The New York attorney general is suing Donald Trump and his foundation, alleging the charity has engaged in "illegal conduct". Attorney general Barbara Underwood announced the lawsuit would be against the Donald J Trump Foundation, as well as its directors Mr Trump and his three adult children: sons Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump, and his daughter Ivanka Trump, who is a White House adviser. The petition alleges "a pattern of persistent illegal conduct occurring over more than a decade".

Dang that Deep State!

How dare they use the Laws of the Land against our Dear Leader!

There is a "special place in hell" for people who try to enforce the law and hurt our Dear Leader who is like a father to his people.

Pres Trump's reply:

Donald J. Trump
‏Verified account @realDonaldTrump

The sleazy New York Democrats, and their now disgraced (and run out of town) A.G. Eric Schneiderman, are doing everything they can to sue me on a foundation that took in $18,800,000 and gave out to charity more money than it took in, $19,200,000. I won't settle this case!...

Didn't Pres Trump used to be one of those "sleazy New York Democrats?" He may not be a Democrat anymore, though.

The Dotard's "charity" is as fake as Ivanka's bolt-ons. What a surprise.

The Trump Crime Syndicate key skill is perpetuating frauds on the gullible, using funding from the Russian mob while evading US taxes.

"repeated and willful self-dealing" pretty much describes this administration.

New York sues Trump Foundation, alleging 'extensive' lawbreaking

Barbara Underwood said the charitable foundation had engaged in "unlawful political co-ordination" designed to influence the 2016 election.

From the Verified Complaint:

"Mr. Trump used charitable assets to pay off the legal obligations of entities he controlled, to promote Trump hotels, to purchase personal items, and to support his presidential election campaign.

The Attorney General's Investigation found that the Foundation is little more than an empty shell that functions with no oversight by its board of directors...In the absence of a functioning board, Mr. Trump ran the Foundation according to his whim, rather than the law.

Sleazy indeed.

From Pres Trump's tweet:
...sue me on a foundation that took in $18,800,000 and gave out to charity more money than it took in, $19,200,000....

So Pres Trump says that his foundation took in $18 million and gave out $19.2 million, i.e., the foundation gave out more money than they took in.

Let's presume that is true.

In what legal system does that absolve a foundation from allegations of illegal activities?

In other words, illegal activities are illegal activities. If the Trump Foundation did indeed perform illegal activities, then why should money suddenly make the Foundation innocent of any charges.

I find it quite disturbing that our Chief Executive (the person in charge of our Justice Department) thinks in this manner.

Could this be why Pres Trump wants to stuff the Justice Department with people who declare their loyalty to him?

#10, you are correct, and what appears to have happened is that Trump was settling litigation by agreeing to make payments to his opponents' own tax-exempt slush funds. So he can claim the funds went to a "charity" but in reality it was for litigation and campaign expenses.

What I find extremely disturbing is that Pres Trump has taken the most unusual step of interviewing candidates for the NY Attorney's office, the office that oversees his businesses.

Is Pres Trump requesting loyalty of the candidates?

Sleazy as someone who would divert charity funds for children's cancer into their own pockets. Say it isn't so.

Is Pres Trump requesting loyalty of the candidates?

Of course not. He's demanding it.

"Sleazy as someone who would divert charity funds for children's cancer into their own pockets."

I like kids that don't get cancer.

I will bet that the 25 million that trump paid in 2016 to settle the trumpU scam, is part of the funds from the inauguration contributions. hopefully this lawsuit will bare his tax returns POS SOB

Clinton Foundation will help...

The Clinton Foundation only helps charities and those legitimately in need of charity.

Clinton Foundation:
Employees‎: ‎2,000 (2015) Revenue‎: ‎$223 million (2015)
Overall Score & Rating 93.91 (out of 100)

Trump Foundation:

Previously it was Donald J. Trump Foundation
"The concerns raised about organizational legitimacy and/or federal tax law compliance are serious both in nature and scope and have thus warranted this CN Advisory"

Looks like the "Trump Foundation" chose to disregard the lessons from the past. Quell surprise.

Perhaps you weren't around for the total slam down on morons that said otherwise? Perhaps you were, but are willfully stupid. Either way, consider yourself corrected on one dumb attempt at "whataboutism."

Back to the subject at hand - Trump and his family are scum.
Great comments in this thread on just how vile this family of sociopaths is.

I sincerely hope that in my lifetime I see Trump and his kids behind bars. America is insulted every day this crook is in office.

This is a string of clear cut violations which demonstrates Trump's contempt for the law. US Presidents generally get away with kind of behavior, with only one well known exception. But these State violations all occurred to Trump the orange private citizen.

manafort and cohen are the soup and the salad. this could be the steak. it involves the whole trump cartel, and therefore, let's say that they don't have anything conclusive on trump sr. but they have the feckless Ivankunt dead to rights. will eric cop a plea and testify against the other(s)? and it's state so trump has no pardon power. the new york AG has been on the tube and it sounds like they have all their ducks in a row.
