Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, June 13, 2018

Hours after returning from a trip where he lavished praise on one of the world's worst dictators, President Trump declared that America's biggest enemy is ... "fake news."
He singled out NBC and CNN in his angry tweet on Wednesday. Trump frequently portrays the news media as one of his enemies, but rarely has he been this blunt about it. Wednesday's tweet harkens back to February 2017, when he called several news outlets "the enemy of the American People!" He was roundly criticized back then. This time, there's been a somewhat more muted reaction, perhaps because he is repeating himself. But it's important to recognize just how extreme this rhetoric is.

In a tweet in early May Trump said, "The Fake News is working overtime. Just reported that, despite the tremendous success we are having with the economy & all things else, 91% of the Network News about me is negative (Fake). Why do we work so hard in working with the media when it is corrupt? Take away credentials?"

Fake news = negative news.

Trump: Media is America's Biggest Enemy

ONLY when the media serves as a propaganda-arm for the government, which is not currently happening.

So, per usual, Trump is wrong.

There are parts of the media who definitely do mislead Americans but it just isn't the parts Trump claims.

Trump really learned a lot from the Third Reich.

He'd make them proud.

Which is what Trump wants. Ironic, considering state led media could be considered America's biggest threat.

He didn't say the media was the enemy, he said that Fake News was:
"Our Country's biggest enemy is the Fake News so easily promulgated by fools!"

Trump is the one broadcasting fake news, multiple times a day.

Thanks for the tip, Trump. I now have more interest in NBC and CNN. I'll try to watch more of it, thanks to you.

As a private sector con artist, Trump didn't have to worry so much about the media. As a public office holder, he despises having them expose his swindles and lies now.

He'd much prefer the state-owned media model that Putin and Kim and the leaders of China have. So much less exposure!

.
Global press freedom declined to its lowest point in 13 years in 2016 due to unprecedented threats to journalists and media outlets in major democracies, intensified crackdowns by authoritarian states, and moves by Russia and China to increase their influence beyond their borders, according to Freedom of the Press 2017, the latest edition of Freedom House's annual report on media freedom around the world.

"Political leaders and other partisan forces in many democracies -- including the United States, Poland, the Philippines, and South Africa -- attacked the credibility of independent media and fact-based journalism, rejecting the traditional watchdog role of the press in free societies," said Jennifer Dunham, director of research for Freedom of the Press.

"The fierce attacks we have seen on factual reporting pose a danger to freedom of the press around the world," said Michael J. Abramowitz, president of Freedom House.

"When politicians lambaste the media, it encourages their counterparts abroad to do the same. Vitriolic attacks on individual journalists and news outlets in the United States undermine our democracy's status as a model of press freedom."

And what does Trump call Fake News? That's right. Anything that questions him or is critical of him or is fact based.

Thanks for playing.

Every now and again Trump accidentally stumbles into a truth, ironically while engaged in serial lying and excuse manufacturing.

The most consistent American lie, which the MSM proliferates, is that to save other people we must blow them into little pieces, destroy their homes and deny them food and water. Its what we're doing in Yemen right now, with Trump's full support of that Saudi war.

Simple question for anyone in the press pool when the President/SHS says the word "Fake news" or attacks the press.

"Mr. President or SHS, isn't the Amercian Free Press the truly feared enemy of any lying politician."

Keep asking this every day.

What we are doing in Yemen would be a crime against humanity and prosecuted at the Hague were it any other nation doing it.

The smartest thing Trump has ever done was label mainstream media outlets "fake news." He was elected with the help of russian trolls spreading actual fake news, but by muddyibg the waters and calling virtually everything "fake news," the term has lost its import when stories about collusion are reported.

This is a Fox News (fake news) alert! 🚨

News organizations are sowing chaos and divisions and attempting to hack the American elections in order to get Trump elected! Just like the Russians!

(Btw did you notice how casually you accept what the Russians are doing?)

If the media would just leave the opinions to the masses and just report the facts as they are that would be a help. Face it the big 3 are left leaning and mislead america on a daily bases with opinion that is made to look like news. Before anyone goes and starts screaming Fox news I would say the only reason that we have a right leaning news media is because the left corrupted the news for so long and those on the right had to fire back. Reporters jobs are not to change the world it's to report the facts and let the viewer decide.

"Here's what I know: Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. He's playing members of the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House, and all we get is a lousy hat." (Mitt Romney, March 3, 2016. University of Utah. Reported that same date by CNN.) But, of course, since CNN reported this, we know it's fake, right?

The blind inability of so many to see through a cheap conman is what keeps conmen supplied with suckers. The suckers who voted for Trump are still blind, still being suckered by him. If he shot one of them on Fifth Avenue, he'd only lose the one vote.

The Western Narrative has been constructed not to inform and enlighten but to conceal and deceive. The narrative has been developed and refined over centuries to preserve a tiny elite's privileges and expand its power. The role of journalists is to keep feeding these illusions to readers so they would remain fearful, passive and deferential towards elites.

Human beings are equally humane, whether they are Americans, Europeans, Israelis, Palestinians, Syrians, Russians, Venezuelans, or Iranians, whether they are North or South Koreans. The term "human" is not meant simply as a description of us as a species, or a biological entity.

The Western Narrative tells a different story. It divides the world into a hierarchy of "peoples", with different, conflicting, virtues and vices. Some humans, westerners, are more rational, more caring, more sensitive, more fully human. And other humans are more primitive, more emotional, more violent. In this system of classification, we are the Good Guys and they are the Bad Guys; we are Order, they are Chaos. They need a firm hand from us to control them and stop them doing too much damage to themselves and to our civilized way of life.

The Western Narrative isn't really new. It is useful to those in power. Humans may be essentially the same in our natures and in our drives, but we are very definitely divided by power and its modern corollary, wealth. A tiny number have it, and the vast majority do not. The Western Narrative perpetuates disparity in power and wealth by making it seem natural and immutable.

Boaz is a true believer and strong promoter of this nonsense.

"I would say the only reason that we have a right leaning news media is because the left corrupted the news for so long and those on the right had to fire back."

I would say you're nuts. The reason we have a right leaning news media is because corporations were allowed to put profit before news by virtue of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine and the shift of news bureaus from "public service" organizations required by the FCC to profit centers which causes them to ignore stories detrimental to corporate profits such as net neutrality and to allow the use of terms like "tax reform" instead of tax cuts for the rich. There was no "reform" involved, it was just saying "more for us, less for you." Pure, unadulterated greed.
If you want real news then try Free Speech TV. Independent news is your only honest source because there is no profit motive involved.
