US president Donald Trump did the deal to keep telco kit provider ZTE in business as a favour to Chinese president Xi Jinping. So said Peter Navarro, who's in a position to know: he serves as assistant to the president, director of trade and industrial policy, and director of the White House National Trade Council. Navarro revealed the favour in a Fox News interview on Sunday, in which he was asked "how do you explain the decision by President Trump to lift the sanctions against the Chinese telecom company ZTE after it had violated our sanctions, our ban on doing business with North Korea and Iran and was considered to be a serious national security risk?

Navarro's responded by saying secretary of commerce Wilbur Ross would be a better source for insight on "the details of what is a very hard negotiation ... that was done" but added the following:

The president did this as a personal favor to the president of China as a way of showing some goodwill for bigger efforts, such as the one here in Singapore.

As a favor? More like as an action he was bribed to do. The very next day he received $500,000,000 for his Hotel/Condo complex in Indonesia.

$500,000,000 straight from China.

$500,000,000 from other chinese owned banks.

A cool $1 BILLION to buy off a sitting POTUS.

Quid quo pro.

Willfully letting an adversary like China spy on America is treason, period.

during kudlows' meltdown on meet the press, in the context of tariffs and violated trade agreements, he was asked about the chinese telephone deal (ZTE) and he said that trump made those concessions as a favor to the chinese president...Now Here Is Why We're Screwed, did chuck todd say, wait a minute, if he did that as a 'favor' how can we not assume that the favor was returned by granting Ivankunt all those chinese trademarks?

Kudlow apparently got so coked up to do the Sunday shows that he gave himself a heart attack. There's a special place in hell for Drumpf and all his sycophants, but hopefully, we can start them off with the hell of life behind bars before they descend to Putin's domain!

Trump obviously takes a huge bribe yet conservatives pretend not to notice. Typical.

IF Trump wasn't getting money from the Chinese for his golf courses and hotels, I'd be perfectly okay with this as a good will gesture. But he is getting that money. He should have been forced to put his business empire in trust. They made Carter do it. But Trump is an R so he doesn't have to.

I'm not ok with this at all. Every phone they manufactured had a back door available so they could hack it. I'm not ok with them continuing in business, Trump is bought and paid for, and sold out America. He is a traitor.

Trump is just a thief...doing what thieves do. The trump cartel is clearly visible to anyone who cares to look. we'll probably be rid of them but what do we do about the systemic corruption that so obviously pervades our society. trump is aided and abetted by republican leadership. and they'll never be called out by the opposition because the dems are just as heavily invested in the deceit. citizens united will finance the undertaking(s) that will ultimately lead to the dissolution of the bill of rights. it will be an easier fight to keep them than to have to fight to get them back

They aren't even hiding the corruption any longer. That is how feckless the GOP Congress is.

That's just it. A good will gesture is to get something later. But we aren't doing that. Trump has his money from the Chinese so its a quid pro quo.
