Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, June 12, 2018

None of this means that America is perfect or that contemporary disputes aren't important. Strains in America's alliances are real, and the looming summit with North Korea could be of great consequence. But it's time for Americans to realize that -- by and large -- we are blessed to live in a time of normal politics with normal stakes. We've gone more than a decade without a crushing attack like 9/11 or an economic meltdown like the Great Recession. Increasingly, however, we can't handle "normal" without escalation, and the reason lies outside politics. We live in a time of normal political stakes and abnormal cultural change. We're running a large-scale, uncontrolled cultural experiment on the minds and hearts of Americans, combining fracturing families, declining religiosity, economic transformation, and the immense emotional domination of social media into a toxic stew that is deeply (and sometimes mortally) wounding our fellow citizens.

Speaking of ridiculous overreaction (among other things) you can start right here ...

That article is baloney, the real story is apathy and under reaction among the American people. The Republicans just gave the 1% 1.5 trillion dollars and the public is largely silent. The SC just took away employee's right to use class action law suits but most people aren't even aware of it. The FCC just took away net neutrality but most people don't even know what those words mean. Americans are largely unaware of what is going on because it's too much work to pay attention and they will pay a price for their laziness. I have noticed that people from other nations are generally much better informed, even about American domestic issues, than are Americans. No wonder we have Trump.

Danni- Americans aren't lazy.

We're struggling to make ends meet with two parents working, let alone the single parents. Most people are too busy and overwhelmed to be political junkies like us. (and even half the people here are clueless about basic facts and this is a political website) Our msm is ----. Fake news has ruined the credibility of even corporate news.

PS this article is garbage.

"But it's time for Americans to realize that -- by and large -- we are blessed to live in a time of normal politics with normal stakes."

It is very clear to anyone that is able to pay attention that our nation continues to decline, our political system is broken, and our government is ABnormal.

"Political Overreaction Is the New American Way"
"our nation continues to decline, our political system is broken, and our government is ABnormal"
Thanks for the example.

Sad.
