Emily Abshire, NPR: ight-year-old Yoyoka Soma's favorite drummer is John Bonham, so for her entry into the 2018 Hit Like A Girl drum contest, she covered Bonham's part on Led Zeppelin's "Good Times Bad Times." ... The video, which features Soma playing along to the 1969 hit, earned her a spot in the international competition's final round. She didn't take home the gold, but she did win our hearts.

Wasn't sure how to make the vimeo video from the NPR link show up (and it didn't), but there was you-tube video also showing her ripping through the mighty song -- incredible.

Led Zeppelin = best, band, ever.

And, if we want world peace, we need more of these 8-year-old kids running things in twenty years.

The mighty Zep on the front page of the mighty DR, good times!

All this comes when the greatest nation the world will ever see has the most incompetent POTUS, bad times!

Good times, bad times -- indeed ~

Classic--an eight-year-old covering a drummer for an English cover band.

Hey, Yoyoka, come back when you can cover 'Toad' (Ginger Baker, Cream), 'Baby Don't you do it' (version from The Who, Keith Moon, drummer) or 'Working Man' (John Rutsey, Rush). Until then, you have a bright future, until The Man gets ahold of you...

That's some remarkable talent for an 8-yr old.

I wonder who she was in a former life??????

I went to the 'hit like a girl drum contest' link from the NPR story ... and you can click on the videos of the top finishers ...

Who they crowned the champion is good, but still doesn't hold a candle to the 8 year old kid rocking Zeppelin.

She played drums like Gene Kelly danced Singing In The Rain.

I love this.

Tell you what, whenever you have the time, you should Google Japanese rock bands, particularly garage/punk. There is some seriously good rock & roll coming out of Japan. You don't even have to know the lyrics. Just one of many great videos: youtu.be
