Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, June 11, 2018

Our latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll had plenty of numbers to cheer Democrats up, including a 10-point advantage on the generic ballot and a 16-point cushion over GOP voters when it comes to having a high level of interest in the November election. But there may also be a few warning signs that some parts of the Democratic coalition as a whole aren't as fired up about midterms as the national narrative might suggest -- at least not yet. While Democrats, and particularly Democratic women, are among the groups most likely to express high interest in the election, seniors remain the most likely group to say they're extremely focused on the outcome ... But the youngest voters in the country, at least so far, aren't showing the levels of engagement seen in the last Democratic wave.

The Democrats asserted that the planned summit could only be judged successful if the North Koreans agreed to dismantle and remove all their nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons, end all production and enrichment of uranium, dismantle its nuclear weapons infrastructure, and suspend ballistic missile tests.

Those demands would constitute an unconditional surrender on the part of the North Korean leadership and will not happen, and the Democrats know it. The inevitable failure to force the North Koreans to surrender essentially forecloses all other options other than military conflict.

This is a reckless and cynical game that provides more proof that neither party has the maturity and foresight to lead.

#1,

I don't think this election is going to go the way the Democrats think. They have hitched their wagons to the far liberal left. But the country isn't far left.

Dems think the election has already happened. Dems think something magical will happen and come January 2019 things will be OK again. Dems think Trump will move toward the center.

In actuality, Dems have to run like hell from now until election day, repeating the fact that the GOP is selling out this country. Dems have to grow a pair and MAKE things happen come TODAY, not just next year. Dems have to beat Trump like a rented mule, all the time, no mater what he says or does. Then, maybe, they will recover a majority in either the House, the Senate, or both...

I have to disagree here. If democrats continue jumping up and down, screaming Trump's a traitor, Trump is a liar, Trump is destroying democracy, etc., they will lose big time. Imho.

All Democrats have to do is remind people how great it was under Obama. Nancy Pelosi is right. The unemployment rate really doesn't mean anything to people that already have jobs so it really doesn't matter what rate Trump is able to attain. Meanwhile, race relations have hit an all time low and the attacks on the LGBT+ community have reached staggering levels. Yes, the economy might be strong now, but that is all due to the wise policies of Obama finally paying off in a big way. We were in the worst economic position since the Great Depression, I think people would agree that 9 years is not too long for the full effects to be felt from Obama's economic policies.

Did they hitch their wagons to the far liberal left or to the anti-Trump train?

It's hard to keep straight when DR Conservatives keep giving us different opinions depending on the thread.

The fact that Trump is President shows they have a lot of work to do. But nothing will change because they still think they're doing nothing wrong. Once Liberals learn humility, the political landscape will change dramatically for the better.

And a shining example of this is this quote from above:

"All Democrats have to do is remind people how great it was under Obama. We were in the worst economic position since the Great Depression, I think people would agree that 9 years is not too long for the full effects to be felt from Obama's economic policies."

For anyone old enough to have been in politics when Obama took office, he blamed everything wrong on W and everything right on himself...except almost everything he did in his first term were just extensions of W's policies. And anything that worked, Obama took credit for. Anything that didn't, he blamed on W and Republicans. A good example of that using the same logic as this quote is when bin Laden was killed. Obama took all the credit, Dems took all the credit, but it was a lot of work by W's team that got them to the point they could get him. I'm fine with Obama taking credit, he was in office when it happened. But that same logic HAS to be used across the board. Obama touted the unemployment rate every chance he got when it would improve. But now you want those numbers to be ignored because it isn't a Dem in office.

And on and on. Either party that uses their platform to blame the other side exclusively for all of the problems while taking credit for anything that goes right. Humility. Learn it or continue to be the party that is left behind.

If Americans aren't "interested" in doing everything possible to halt the ogre in the white house, i honestly believe i might be living in the wrong country.

I'm assuming you draw the line at things like assassination, military coup, etc.

- the savior of our country

That's just sad. The Con Man in Chief, The Liar in the WH, The Dubious Doofus... OK, but "savior"?

Get real.

#9 I was speaking in the context of this thread, i.e., voting and taking political measures.

I figured that was probably the case, Joe.

One would be a fool to advocate online for the measures you mentioned, Jeff. ;)

This country already has its savior - Barack Obama. Unfortunately, half the country is so stupid and backwards that they can't see how great he was and the fantastic job he did because he is black.

True that, Joe.

It's funny seeing some of the Facebook posts from old high school friends where Trump is portrayed as "saving the country" while they mock the straw man of Obama being a "savior". I'm sure people who share memes like that will probably never vote Democrat. But there are many others who would but are still being written off or taken for granted by them.
