Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The White House put out a statement indicating the Singapore Summit will not extend into a second day as previously thought: The discussions between the United States and North Korea are ongoing and have moved more quickly than expected. President Donald J. Trump will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. No details were given on any possible progress in preliminary talks between aides at the talks, according to the Associated Press. And the abrupt change in schedule came shortly after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had seemed to lower expectations for the meeting, which Trump had earlier predicted could potentially yield an on-the-spot end to the Korean War.

Leave?

Before he even meets with Kim? Just after the photo op? I guess the less that happens the more room he has to lie about it?

Early reports are often wrong.

I'm waiting until I get the official word of what happens during the summit via Pres Trump's tweets.

My reaction is that if it were a slam dunk win for Agolf Twitler he would be all over the news crowing about it.

Did anybody expect this to be more than a photo op?

So far ...

Pres Trump has stated that he would not agree to a summit unless Leader Kim agreed to full demilitarization beforehand. Pres Trump gave that away to NK.

Pres Trump also gave away Leader Kim meeting with the President of the United States with no pre-conditions, something Leader Kim had wanted. Pres Trump gave leader Kim the photo-op of Leader Kim being welcomed to the world stage via Pres Trump.

While I continue to hope for a meaningful demilitarization treaty with North Korea, I have a concern that Pres Trump's need to have his ego stroked will yield hundreds of tweets about how great he is, and a poor agreement.

Pres Trump needs to make this about the United States and the world, not about himself.

Hey, if having Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy attend will help denuclearize North Korea, I'm all for it.

Like you really hope for a meaningful demilitarization. If that happened you would have to come up with some excuse why it didn't have anything to do with Trump and people like on MSNBC are already doing that.

Let's face facts, if this was Obama he would already be praised as god almighty just for setting up a meeting even if they got nothing done. Now the left is already saying that if Trump doesn't come out of this meeting with full denuclearization within a year he has totally failed. And they call Trump supporters traitors to our country.

That Trump is a traitor isn't proven....Yet. But the prospects continue to seem good. There are so many nasty things that man does that hurt this country that the Right won't own up to. So, you may not be traitors in the old fashioned since but close enough for jazz.

That's the standard Trump set. I heard him. Um, he changed his mind?

This summit has all the earmarks of a dog and pony show, with Donald playing both parts.

We do. We just aren't idiots like you who keep claiming it will happen. And if NKorea promises it, we don't trust them to do it without inspections. You know, the inspections we had in Iran that were working? Way to screw that up by the way.

Some of us just aren't as completely gullible as you.

@#9 ... Like you really hope for a meaningful demilitarization. ...

Two comments:

1) when I typed demilitarization of NK, I meant denuclearization. The spell check changed it and I didn't catch it in my proof-reading of the message.

2) I have said previously, a real denuclearization of North Korea would be a good thing, and if it occurs I'd congratulate Pres Trump for accomplishing it.

... Now the left is already saying that if Trump doesn't come out of this meeting with full denuclearization within a year he has totally failed. ...

Pres Trump had said that he would not go into the meeting with Leader Kim unless NK had denuclearized. You're complaining because some people are holding Pres Trump to a standard that is more lax than the one he himself committed to?

Why all this back-pedaling all of a sudden?

Facts? LOL!

Remember how much you condemned then-senator Barack Obama's pledge to ‘meet separately, without precondition, during the first year of his administration, in Washington or anywhere else, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea, in order to bridge the gap that divides our countries?

yeah, me too... Good times... good times...

Facts are when Obama declared that not only would he meet with our friends he would meet our enemies too the right went completely unhinged. They called him a terrorist lover amongst other disgusting things. Now a white Repub with no Muslim sounding middle name they praise him. The GOP is worthless from the neck up.

It's important to know that, before Trump, the US refused to have a sitting US president meet one on one until there were serious concessions (like nuclear commitments).

North Korea has wanted the prestige of being an equal negotiating partner and sidelining all the US allies (South Korea and Japan). The US/Trump gets this meeting.

Republicans used to be just as against it for strategic reasons.

Here's Fox News criticizing the hypothetical idea of Obama having this meeting:

While the TV cameras frantically follow the Trump reality show few people notice that everyone in the G7, that was once Trump's best friend ever, is now his worst enemy. Just like the man and country which he was going to blow to kingdom come is now set to share a Noble Prize with him. Its all BS and its bad for you.

Fox News and people like you called Obama weak and a sell out for even talking about meeting with North Korea.

Like we told you, this meeting would accomplish nothing. We support the meeting but Trump pretending like he was accomplishing something BEFORE he accomplished anything was idiotic. But you ate it up. And now you got a big fat NOTHING.

Worst Negotiator Ever.

I think he, instead, used the bridges to Syria & Venezuela to further decimate the two countries. The bridge to Iran, it appears, was used to send convoy's of armored trucks stacked with cash to help further their nuclear program.

Cuba has been irrelevant since the Cold War ended, & regardless of that bridge remains so. I don't think North Korea even heard about any bridge, or just ignored the gesture completely. Looks as if NK did the world the most good on this one.

Hey, look, another person who only reads Infowars! Let's try putting some facts in there to make you look dumb.

1. No one has a clue what you are talking about in Syria or Venezuela. Venezuela went to hell because the country relies entirely on the export of oil and prices crashed. Syria has a civil war that Obama has nothing to do with other than ensuring chemical weapons aren't used daily. Not sure how Obama is the cause of any serious damage in either country.

2. Iran's cash was actually THEIR CASH. It was money we froze in their bank accounts when we put down sanctions. It's not ours. We can't keep it. And we couldn't transfer it back via banks due to sanctions. If you could read, you'd know this.

3. As for Cuba, Obama had been thawing relations, opening travel and trade as the country looks to become more democratic and capitalist. Trump screwed that up.

4. North Korea asked to meet with Obama and Obama said he was open to it. Conservatives like yourself called him weak for saying that. No real change other than open dialogue and slow thawing of relations with South Korea under Obama. And Trump got...well...nothing in his meeting. Good job.

You have quite the imagination and a pretty poor grasp of facts. I suggest you finish Fourth Grade then come back to discuss.

1) Oil prices are high. Venezuela still sucks. No other country dependent on oil prices suffered like they did. Incompetent nationalization doomed them.

2) Yup.

3) No. They locked up the opposition and gave them show trials to keep them out of the elections.

4) Thank the SK president for the thawing relations.

Of course Trump is leaving the summit early.

Both sides already had their orders from Putin.

Eisenhower could power NYC with how much he is spinning in his grave.
