Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, June 09, 2018

Danny Kirwan, the former Fleetwood Mac guitarist who played on five of the British band's albums, died Friday at the age of 68. According to the band's Facebook page: "Today was greeted by the sad news of the passing of Danny Kirwan in London, England. Danny was a huge force in our early years. His love for the Blues led him to being asked to join Fleetwood Mac in 1968, where he made his musical home for many years. Danny's true legacy, in my mind, will forever live on in the music he wrote and played so beautifully as a part of the foundation of Fleetwood Mac, that has now endured for over fifty years."

I can't help about the shape I'm in
I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

Now, when I talked to God, I knew He'd understand
He said, "Stick by my side and I'll be your guiding hand
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to"
Ooh, well

Sorry to hear the news -- but I got to say 'Oh Well' is one GREAT rock tune that history has pretty much forgotten.

And, the story behind Led Zep's 'Black Dog' was John Paul Jones wanting to recreate the stop-and-start breaks from Mac's 'Oh Well'.

Oh, c'mon. "Oh, Well" was a Peter Green tune.
