Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, June 08, 2018

One of Russia's principal foreign-policy goals for decades has been to split the United States from is allies. Whether by accident or by design, President Trump appears intent on bringing that dream to fruition. The most immediate theater of Western disarray is today's G7 meeting in Canada. Trump has been fomenting a trade war, hurling wild and largely groundless accusations at America's allies. Western trade partners have attempted to reason with Trump's demands, but the problem is that the basis for his beliefs and actions is entirely fantastical. If your neighbor is irate that you let your dog run loose in his yard, you can pacify him. If he's irate that you are reading his thoughts through his tinfoil hat, there's nothing you can do except disengage.

The 2016 campaign wasn't that long ago and for the life of me I don't recall Trump advocating the destruction of the post WWII western alliance. He talked about making NATO countries pay their fair share, but blaming our allies for trade problems more related to China and welcoming Russia back into a G8 fold without them leaving their illegal occupation of Crimea? Must have missed it in between the chorus chants of "Lock her up!"

Yup

and to think that most of todays "conservatives" are welcoming this simply because they hate their fellow American liberals so much.

they hate their neighbors with such fervor they are willing to burn it all to the ground

and that is no exaggeration

Lets face it, The GOP doesn't want Col. Jessep standing on that wall.

They want the hegemony itself to find a new leader, and it doesn't matter if he speaks Chinese or Russian.

The gradual decline of the quality of white American life will fuel racial and immigrant resentment for decades to come

Welcome to the Southern Strategy, in the age of globalization.

During Pres Putin's 4-hour call-in news conference, he even commented on his success in this area.

What could Putin possibly have on Trump? It certainly isn't just some soggy Russian prostitutes. What's the most likely answer?

How about: The Russian government actively conspires with the Trump Campaign -- through ties Trump already has with Russia -- to spend a whole lot of money on Internet schemes to get Trump elected. Then once Trump's elected, Putin threatens to reveal the whole thing unless Trump cow tows for him. (It would be fine with Putin if the world found out he outwitted the U.S., anyway.) Prestige for Putin, treason for Trump. Putin can't lose.

Just a thought. Surely there can't be anything to it.

Trump is betraying the middle and lower classes, but faithful to the upper class--his class.

Class consciousness isn't taught in the US, so we don't recognize it. It took my first "mentor" to explain it to me a long time ago.

People are divided more by class than generations or age. And it's more important for the upper class to keep the status quo than it is even to make money.

It's called English Charm...the Aristocracy owning and controlling the important land and industries, while the serfs beg for a piece of the action to survive.

Feudalism is coming back in a big way.
