President Donald Trump told reporters Friday he remains open to holding a summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un on June 12. The President said lines of communication had opened between the two countries after officials said Thursday that the North Koreans had become unresponsive, leading to the planned summit's cancellation. "We're going to see what happens. We're talking to them now. It was a very nice statement they put out," Trump said on the South Lawn before departing in his helicopter for the US Naval Academy in Maryland, where he is delivering a commencement address.

Trump got burned by what he did. He wanted to look strong but came out stupid, again.

As to anything Donald says about what NK is doing, the odds are very great he's lying.

departing in his helicopter for the US Naval Academy in Maryland, where he is delivering a commencement address rant about how awesome he is and how all the problems in America are caused by immigration and the Transgenderered Liberals and then he will lead the chant, "Who's gonna build the Wall? Mexico!".

Good. The NK situation needs to be resolved.

"Trump got burned by what he did. He wanted to look strong but came out stupid, again."

Not yet. He might, but it's too soon to tell. This is one issue anyone who's not a deranged partisan hack should be hoping he doesn't fail on.

Trump has diminished the US position by issuing a gratituitious rant then having to back off his intemperate words. NK seeks food aid, respect as a first-world country and a promise of security. They will not give up their nukes.

One reason the summit was canceled was that the US clown band surrounding Trump realized they were about to be schooled by master negotiators from NK, thus bringing on a humiliation perhaps greater than the end of the Vietnam War...

Trumplethinskin is desperate for drama and distraction. NK wasn't going to give him a "Nobel" and the potential to bleach some of the smarminess out of his leadership "style" and the ensuing investigations. It a pathetic attempt at making his insanity worth it because he did some good.

Wow. Are you guys watching some alternate reality?

Because I see none of what you are speaking of.

You aren't looking. Trump has only helped cut himself out of Korea. He's the least consequential person involved.

Angry WH Staffer @AngrierWHStaff

When the news about the North Korea summit prep (and what led to the cancellation) comes out, I hope everyone finds it as hilariously ironic as I do.

Oh, here's part of it:

The WH advance team spent 3 days sitting in Singapore waiting on the North Koreans to show up. Never happened

And SK's Moon has already went to NK and met with Kim to figure out how to deal with the american child.

Were I Kim Jung Un, I'd look at the Iran situation and refuse to deal with Trump. Advice to Kim, wait for the next President, this guy is a liar, a cheat and doesn't even pay his contractors.

if I were Kim i'd contact iran and see if together they could make a joint statement to the united nations about how they would like to request that any meetings conducted with the united states have a member of the security council present...don't care which one just as long as someone is there to provide an accurate account of the proceedings. it would be denied but would put the trump cartel on notice that its BS from bolton and pompeo wasn't gonna fly.

Liar-in-Chief hard at work doing what he does best:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

The Failing @nytimes quotes "a senior White House official," who doesn't exist, as saying "even if the meeting were reinstated, holding it on June 12 would be impossible, given the lack of time and the amount of planning needed." WRONG AGAIN! Use real people, not phony sources.

The official is Matt Pottinger who serves on the National Security Council. He briefed dozens of reporters on background.

4. I've obtained audio of the WH press briefing. You can hear Raj Shah, Deputy Press Secretary, introduce Pottinger (along with the terms - which are standard) and then Pottinger makes the statement that POTUS says was never made. Lots of reporters in briefing room and on phone.

Let this be instructive for the next time the president falsely claims "fake news" or fake sources... HE IS LITERALLY DENYING A SENIOR OFFICIAL WHO GAVE A WHITE HOUSE-SANCTIONED BACKGROUND BRIEFING. I am now returning to my regularly scheduled Memorial Day weekend...

if not the 12th maybe the 19th or the 26th..it ain't gonna make any difference. he's already totally screwed up what could've been an advantageous position. first, he should have backed off the iran deal. it was the perfect time to say that he had the pen in his hand but would not sign at this time ..Because..with pending negotiations with NK on the exact same subject, and recognizing that both NK and iran share an adversarial relationship with the USA, this would be a perfect opportunity to show the world that our attitude toward nuclear weapons capability is not politically driven. we ask and offer the same from NK as from iran. trump trashed the iran deal with no attempt to negotiate and said to hell with his allies. from what he's said publicly about what he'll accept from NK, i don't see how this is going to work out. there've been a lot of very rich crooks..but you wouldn't want one of those guys to be your president. al capone on a law and order ticket.."who knows crime better than me". we're screwed

Kim vs. Trump. It's like a cage match planned in heaven.

My prediction is that it ends in a book deal, and maybe some licensing rights for the reruns.

I am so entertained.
