A Russian military missile was responsible for shooting down flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine in 2014, an international team of investigators said on Thursday, for the first time pointing the finger directly at Moscow. The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 was travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was shot down over the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine on 17 July 2014. All 298 people onboard were killed.

From Wikipedia:Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (MH17/MAS17) was a scheduled passenger flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur that was shot down on 17 July 2014 while flying over eastern Ukraine, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew on board. Contact with the aircraft, a Boeing 777-200ER, was lost when it was about 50 km (31 mi) from the Ukraine -- Russia border and wreckage of the aircraft fell near Hrabove in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, 40 km (25 mi) from the border. The shoot-down occurred in the War in Donbass, during the Battle of Shakhtarsk, in an area controlled by the Donetsk People's Republic. The crash was Malaysia Airlines' second aircraft loss during 2014 after the disappearance of Flight 370 on 8 March.

The US needs that anti-aircraft missile system.,
We can't even protect our own Pentagon from an airplane.

Yup. This is on Putin's hands. He'll probably never be held accountable for it. Unfortunately the Russian people will be paying for it for a long time, both karmically and financially.

"Trump will make sure his BFF is protected."

You're probably right but Trump isn't going to be around forever.

Remember ~ Moammar Gadhafi ultimately paid the highest price of all for Pan Am 103.

No, we can't.

Here is the Chinese version of the BUK missile. It's an improved variant that can also target and bring down re-painted SCUD missile hand-me-downs like the Iranians and Indians have. An passenger plane? Like taking candy from a baby.

They would not have a problem buying this missile system from China or Russia. Believe it or not, it is not top-of-the-line. China/Russia have even better stuff with longer ranges than this.

Easy peasy if it is a known hostile airplane.

Tough call to shoot down a civilian airliner with US livery. I'm not convinced that didn't happen to 93.

When a plane veers off into restricted airspace, it is considered hostile. No matter whose daddy it belongs to.

1. The US military needs to update it's protocols.

2. It needs to discipline people sleeping on the job.

3. It needs to upgrade it's old equipment.

It didn't happen. The USAF proved how useless it is when it couldn't defend it's homeland.

Nulli still denies this; he claims it was shot down by Ukranian Nazis.

Why would our dear friends in Moscow do such a thing? Oh well. We have hotels to build and investments to make.

"Nulli still denies this; he claims it was shot down by Ukranian Nazis."

Meanwhile democracy still actually functions in Ukraine unlike in Russia.

Careless incompetence on their part is the most generous interpretation.

I no longer know what to think. One week after the disaster, a German reporter published what he claimed to be pictures of pieces of MH-17 with bullet holes, which a missile will not produce.

While it's certainly plausible the plane was shot down by Eastern Ukraine separatists, it's also obvious they and Russia have little to gain from such an act. At worst, it was simply an error on their part. Russia wanted an investigation and insisted on the right to participate, which was denied.

Luis Posada Carriles, the man who blew up a Cuban airliner in June 1976 was later arrested in Panama for plotting to blow up a progressive convention died peaceably in Miami last Wednesday, having been protected from prosecution by the US Government. On 3 July 1988, Iran Air Flight 655, a scheduled civilian passenger flight from Tehran to Dubai, was shot down by an SM-2MR surface-to-air missile fired from USS Vincennes, a guided missile cruiser of the United States Navy.

Dutch tourists do count, just like Jewish lives. Iranians and Palestinians don't count. Russian lives do not count. Asian lives do not count. African lives do not count. Middle Eastern lives do not count. The lives of Latin Americans do not count. That is why the West so freely and without hesitation has murdered tens of millions of ‘unpeople', for decades and centuries.

Meanwhile, more than 100,000 people have crossed into Russia, seeking refuge from Ukrainian bombers and rockets. But they don't count either to the US Government.

There is no point in taking a position without direct knowledge of any event. I certainly do not know one way or the other.

That's absurd. Your Putin defense has become fact-free, buh-lieve anything Russia says nonsense.

I don't know either. Here's a another take on the topic that says Russia did it and we knew but Obama failed to let the world know:

Dying bodies fell "like confetti" for 90 seconds

A photo taken July 17, 2014, shows the wreckage of MH17 near the town of Shakhtarsk, Ukraine. The plane was carrying 298 people from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. Russian-backed separatists and Russian sources made various misleading claims, including that the Malaysian airliner had been shot down by a Ukrainian jet.

i'll go you one better...a link to pics i just googled for 'pentagon pics on 9-11' .this site says this pic proves that an airplane did the damage shown. it doesn't look like an airplane crash scene to me. what happened to the landing gear and the engines? those parts are virtually indestructible. i'd accept that the planes fuselage did the damage shown..but where are the wings. personally i think a rocket got the pentagon and they splashed that jet before it could do it's thing.

and there's this...i've filed this along with the JFK question. why wouldn't trump finally release the kennedy info? it'd be to upsetting to the public i'm sure they'd say. i don't believe the towers were dropped by explosives, but photos of that navy building beside the towers sure looks like it was dropped on purpose. no sense on conjecture concerning pennsylvania but you'll never convince me that a plane hit the pentagon.
