Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, May 12, 2018

Der Spiegel: The West as we once knew it no longer exists. Our relationship to the United States cannot currently be called a friendship and can hardly be referred to as a partnership. President Trump has adopted a tone that ignores 70 years of trust. He wants punitive tariffs and demands obedience. It is no longer a question as to whether Germany and Europe will take part in foreign military interventions in Afghanistan or Iraq. It is now about whether trans-Atlantic cooperation on economic, foreign and security policy even exists anymore. The answer: No.

It is impossible to overstate what Trump has dismantled in the last 16 months. Europe has lost its protective power. It has lost its guarantor of joint values. And it has lost the global political influence that it was only able to exert because the U.S. stood by its side. And what will happen in the remaining two-and-a-half years (or six-and-a-half years) of Trump's leadership? There is plenty of time left for further escalation.

German led European resistance to America?

Memo to Trump, "nice going -----".

I'm not going anywhere.

We need our European Allies ... and as far as Germany is concerned we should learn that they pay workers well that ultimate allows them to have a $2 trillion trade surpluses ...

We're obviously doing something wrong because we pay workers crap wages while having $2 trillion trade deficits.

And it's totally naive to think Putin doesn't know these things and is working very hard to exploit them.

trump doesn't have the capacity to actually adopt an ideology. he's an evil chameleon that takes advantage of his ability to appear to be something he isn't. trump has the advantage also that his supporters are easily confused, case in point.

Germany and the IMF bankrupted Greece, and are working on Portugal and Spain.

Indirectly Dotard has driven up oil prices which will help Russia immensely and the US public will pay for it.

What may have you confused is that Russia is not the old commie Soviet Union. It is the new crony corporatist nationalist authoritarian oligarchy... which is why Trump wants to be them.

Our influence is withdrawing from more than Europe and Russia/China are more than happy to fill the void.

Conquests by military force are a thing of the past thanks to nukes. What we're seeing is the modernized version of a conquest and we're not winning with DOTUS at the helm, which is his purpose.

Greece bankrupted themselves much the same way the right is trying to bankrupt the USA.

The thing is they don't run massive deficits - they have agreed not to. So they won't be paying the price for the next few generations - like Greece, Portugal and Spain who broke those rules. Heck throw in Italy for that matter. The USA is well on the path to Austerity or a fall like post WWI Germany.

The common thread between Greece, Iceland, Puerto Rico and the USA is fraud on the part of private Banksters who control the money supply and who be gone with the money when the debts come due. Only in Iceland they were fired and thrown in jail.

The US has made it clear it wants to end or reduce trade between the EU and Russia. But, the only alternative for the EU would be to purchase liquified natural gas from the USA. The infrastructure does not exist for this trade. This issue is a big part of the ongoing Middle East conflicts as well, where the question what path and whose supply will provide natural gas between the Middle East and the EU. Again the USA wants to lock Iran out and control the pipeline. Meanwhile, the Saudis are at war with Qatar, home of the largest US military base. NATO and Turkey are not getting along and either competing pipeline will have to go through Turkey.

"But, the only alternative for the EU would be to purchase liquified natural gas from the USA. The infrastructure does not exist for this trade."

That's why Va and WVa are busy destroying the Jefferson and George Washington N'atl Forests as fast as they can to run pipelines to transport fracked NG from WVa to the coast for transport to Europe.

Atlas Shrugged.

Russia, China, Trump voters and their toadies literally don't want America(n-backed corporate interests) to reap the benefits of the global hegemony any more.
This is going to be China's century.
Trump is making sure of it.

Trump sold out America to Russia, which is why he refused to release his tax returns.

Trump is now working hard at saving Chinese jobs over saving American jobs.

So at this point, what difference does it make?
