Trump still hasn't appointed a science adviser -- but he did offer the job to Bill Gates, who said it was "not a good use of my time." At a meeting between the president and Microsoft founder last month, Gates suggested to Trump that he actually appoint someone to lead the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. At this point, Gates told STAT, Trump asked Gates if he himself wanted the job. Gates did not.

"Trump still hasn't appointed a science adviser -- but he did offer the job to Bill Gates"

This is the same Bill Gates that put NSA backdoors into Windows...

Lol gates has better things to do than work for a relatively poor person like Trump.

The NSA doesn't need backdoors if you aren't using VPN or TOR.
It compromised TOR and it would not surprise me if it has compromised VPN services.

I'm not sure the NSA would agree that the NSA doesn't need as many backdoors as it can get.

It's a backdoor arms race if you ask me.

Encryption doesn't do any good if they have you in custody.
The NSA can decrypt anything with a wrench. They hit you on the head with the wrench until you give them the key.
If they have already killed you, they may need a backdoor to access your data. Otherwise they just need you.

Detention comes layer. The point is to achieve surveillance on everybody, and from that cherry-pick the ones you want to bring in.

We don't have the capacity to detain 300,000,000 Americans, but we can mine our communications and contacts to perform network discovery.

Exactly. That is why the NSA doesn't need backdoors on devices because they already listen in on network traffic.

Your argument is like trying to explain to a gun lover that they only need one gun.

The slides Snowden leaked show a NSA that builds capacity not because they need it, but because they can.

I didn't say the NSA doesn't want backdoors. I am sure they have zero day exploits as well that don't need a backdoor.
They just don't need them to access your data or device.

I would love to know how much the NSA knows about the stuff Mueller is investigating.

But I doubt we'll ever know.
