Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, April 13, 2018

A major donor with close ties to the White House resigned on Friday as deputy finance chairman of the Republican National Committee after the revelation that he had agreed to pay $1.6 million to a former Playboy model who became pregnant during an affair. The deal was arranged by President Trump's personal lawyer and fixer, Michael D. Cohen. Under the terms of the deal, the Republican donor, Elliott Broidy, would pay the woman in installments over the course of two years, and in return, she would agree to stay silent about their relationship, two people with knowledge of the arrangement told The New York Times. The deal was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

The lawyer for the woman, Keith M. Davidson, also represented two women who were paid during the presidential campaign for their silence about alleged affairs with Mr. Trump.

Why not? As Trump's lawyer, Cohen certainly has the hush money expertise for the work.

Well, to be fair, there's that hush money that Hillary paid right before the election to Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Of course, had that gotten out, she woulda won sure.

It sounds like one Mr. Keith M. Davidson, Esquire, has quite the little niche practice going.

Conservative family values at work. I mean, if no one talks about it then it didn't happen, right?

Here's a good post from the stories comments:

It appears to me that the basic legality of a NDA which abrogates the constitutional right of free speech after entering into the agreement needs to be reconsidered. I posit that a free society in which the voices of the weaker parties can be permanently silenced by a civil contractual arrangement is inherently antithetical to our ongoing experiment of democracy as formulated by our founding fathers is at the root of our peril.

Yes, I think intellectual property , stategic planning etc is appropriate for Nda s. What needs to go and go soon is any other aspect of NDA S that limit the parties ability to exercise their free speech constitutional rights. Even if that free speech makes the other party look bad or infringes on the expansion of their business or personal affairs ,our society should not offer a vehicle for people to forgo basic rights for a monetary sum. My take is that a NDA is tatamont to slavery. Just like other antithetical cultural behavior s for example , posting a sign on your lawn offering yourself as a prostitute with a fee schedule is ,I assume illegal, no contract should be enforceable that curtails free speech as defined over two centuries of jurisprudence.

Wake up America.

"she alone decided that she did not want to continue with the pregnancy, and I offered to help her financially during this difficult period."
What a gentleman.

The man should have been put in prison for violating the Logan Act with the UAE.
Before that he plead guilty to bribery in exchange for snitching and a reduced charge.
None of that prevents him from being a bag man for the President/RNC.

But paying a woman for sex (from the look of him that is the only way he is ever going to--------) is a bridge too far.

I wonder how much money he has raised over the years by poking conservatives with the abortion stick?
10's of millions?

Former FOX staffers have triggered massive sexual harassment claims than the dotard could ever imagine.

Now where in the world did the RNC come up with $1.6 Million dollars to pay off a Playboy model?

Oh wait . . . I know the answer to that.

This is how the RNC wastes your hard earned donations.
