Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, April 09, 2018

YASER MURTAJA, A Palestinian photojournalist, was one of nine civilians killed by Israeli snipers on Friday in Gaza, but his death was perhaps the clearest rebuke to Israel's official position that its sharpshooters have only fired live ammunition at "instigators" among the crowds of protesters, in a "precise, measured way" to protect Israelis on the other side of the perimeter fence. That's because images taken by Murtaja's colleagues covering the protest, moments before and after he was shot, show that he was wearing a blue flak jacket clearly marked with the word "PRESS" in capital letters on a white background across his chest. The bullet apparently entered his abdomen through a small opening at the side of the jacket, just inches away from the word that should have protected him from being targeted.

Despite Gaza Massacre, Israel Remains Immune From Criticism - www.counterpunch.org

"Gaza's health ministry has said that five people were killed and 1,070 people were wounded on Friday, including 293 by live fire."

...and that was just Friday.

The United States has an obligation to stop the Israeli activities entirely - that means overseeing the complete and total removal of all colonies.

I'm sure many conservatives are all cheering these deaths.

I'm not sure why. But conservatives worship war and death and destruction. You can clearly see it in everything they do.

As for America doing something? We are. We're supporting the Israelis. More dead Palestinians is a step in the right direction.

I don't doubt for a second, if the Israelis could, they'd put all the Palestinians on trains, take them to gas chambers, and murder every last Palestinian.

That's not what he said.

Replace the word colonies with settlements, and he's right.

Israel has been violating Palestinian borders, expanding their borders, for decades.

Okay.

So, what should Israel do?

Capitulate?

Subject themselves to the 4th Reich?

Wo whatever arbitrary standards that should be applied to Israel also apply to her neighbors in the ME?

Or should it be a suicide pact?

- Subject themselves to the 4th Reich?

What are you talking about? Israel has ALL of the weapons.

You know what will protect you from rocks and slingshots? a clear plastic shield.

A motorcycle helmet with visor. a pair of ---- goggles. Israeli military is out of line carrying out a lethal police action.

So, what should Israel do?

I haven't a clue. It's a bad situation from the get go. Would a two state solution work? I don't know. I wasn't consulted when America and Great Britain decided to move the displaced Jewish population of Europe into the Middle East and call it Israel.

Capitulate?

Possibly. Returning to the original agreement.

Subject themselves to the 4th Reich?

They are the 4th Reich.

Whatever arbitrary standards that should be applied to Israel also apply to her neighbors in the ME?

Sure. It's such a vague question.

Or should it be a suicide pact?

Yes. Eye for an eye. Currently. Palestinians protest and throw rocks and Israelis return fire with the latest military gear from America.

Per us Intel estimates, and increasing global political consensus, the 2 state solution is not possible anymore. Too many settlements, expansion had to end 3 years ago. It did not.

That leaves Israel with only one option to deal with the Palestinians.... vernichtung, because they are never going to allow them to be full citizens.

Then "Israeli" should prepare for the inevitable, isn't that what you mean? This goes beyond any lesson of Sodom.

"wipe off the map" - The Palestinians don't deserve to be shot in an open-air prison - the Israeli know better and yet commit this kind of hate-crime repeatedly using an Iranian misquote as an excuse. They are indeed "wiping" their non-Jewish population off the map is an apt phrase. It's stunning how much prepper and military proficiency Zionist colonists have in common with the American Nazi. Well, they both appear to hate Semites, so...

.. Then, specialists such as Juan Cole of the University of Michigan and Arash Norouzi of the Mossadegh Project pointed out that the original statement in Persian did not say that Israel should be wiped from the map, but instead that it would collapse.

Cole said this week that in the 1980s Khomeini gave a speech in which he said in Persian "Een rezhim-i eshghalgar-i Quds bayad az sahneh-i ruzgar mahv shaved." This means, "This occupation regime over Jerusalem must vanish from the arena of time." But then anonymous wire service translators rendered Khomeini as saying that Israel "must be wiped off the face of the map," which Cole and Nourouzi say is inaccurate.

Ahmadinejad slightly misquoted Khomeini, substituting "safheh-i ruzgar," or "page of time" for "sahneh-i ruzgar" or "arena of time." But in any case, the old translation was dug up and used again by the Iranian news agency, Cole says. In fact, that's how it was presented for years on Ahmadinejad's English-language Web site, as the Times noted in a somewhat defensive article on the translation debate.

But the story doesn't end there. Karim Sadjadpour, an Iranian specialist at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, notes that Iranian government entities began to erect billboards and signs with the "wipe off" phrase in English. Joshua Teitelbaum of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs compiled an interesting collection of photographs of these banners, such as one on the building that houses reserve military forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. "Israel should be wiped out of the face of the world," the sign reads in English.

Teitelbaum's report, while written from a pro-Israel perspective, includes a number of threatening statements about Israel that are similar in tone to Ahmadinejad's controversial statement.

In 2000, Khamenei stated, "Iran's position, which was first expressed by the Imam [Khomeini] and stated several times by those responsible, is that the cancerous tumor called Israel must be uprooted from the region." He went on to say in the same speech that "Palestinian refugees should return and Muslims, Christians and Jews could choose a government for themselves, excluding immigrant Jews."

Sadjadpour, who has closely studied the statements of Khamenei, said that the supreme leader has spoken more on the question of Israel than any other issue, which is remarkable given that Iran shares no border with Israel and that the Jewish state has virtually no impact on the daily lives of Iranians. Sadjadpour said Khamenei has been consistent, stating repeatedly that the goal is not the military destruction of the Jewish state but "the defeat of Zionist ideology and the dissolution of Israel through a 'popular referendum.'"

Of course, an Israeli might conclude that such an outcome would be the destruction of the Jewish state in any case.

Did Ahmadinejad really say Israel should be 'wiped off the map'?

..If 100 settlements will exist -- and they will -- between Nablus and Jerusalem, all the Arabs will be able to do about it is to scurry around like drugged cockroaches in a bottle, then-Chief of Staff Rafael Eitan said in 1984. He was talking about the occupied territories, but in Israel itself the matter has already been tested on Arab citizens.

The recipe is simple: Keep the Arabs, who are citizens with equal rights of course, cooped up in their cities. The available space will gradually shrink because of land expropriations by the state. Unauthorized construction will be rampant because there is no master plan. And in the absence of proper zoning and land allocation, the woodshop will be near the bedroom, the welding workshop will be near the kitchen and the falafel stand will be in the middle of the street.

All open space, including green spaces, will become a concrete mass. A son needs to build a home? No problem, just build a concrete roof between the stairs and whats left of the yard, and voila -- the boy has a roof over his head. And if the son gets fed up and seeks to live somewhere a bit more humane, Carmiel, for example, then hes a squatter. Dont even dream of applying to live in a cooperative community. The Zionist Revolutionary Guards will make sure to eject -- legally, of course -- any Arab who seeks a spot of green.

What is the role of the police in all this? Simple – to leave the Arabs to stew in their own juices, as Eitan said -- drugged cockroaches in a bottle. To fight over every building lot or parking space. And when the central government absents itself, every petty criminal is king. As the Lebanese artist Ziad Rahbani wrote, We have such a country, that a child can shut down a neighborhood.

They claim that crime is not addressed because Arabs dont cooperate with the police. This is what a helpless Arab must do in order to fight crime: When filing a complaint, he must bring along witnesses and proof. In the future, so Ive heard, hell be asked to catch the perpetrator as well. As we all know, in Jewish neighborhoods everyone is Superman. Our Jewish brothers bring in the perpetrators, in handcuffs and ankle restraints, together with a signed confession. Only a racist who genuinely wants to see citizens scurrying like drugged cockroaches in a bottle could come up with such crap.

The police refrain from publishing the data on Arab murder victims, and no wonder: The number alone is a scathing indictment of the failure to protect Arab lives. By one count, 1,000 Arabs in Israel were murdered between 2000 and 2015. The problem is that there are a lot of victims but no murderers. And when the murderer isnt caught, the murders are likely to continue. Only a police force that views citizens as its enemies behaves like this. In Kafr Qasem alone there have been six murders in two months without a single indictment. ..continues..

JeffJ does not care that actual Palestinian towns were actually wiped from the face of the earth by Israelis in 1948.

Nor does he view illegal Israeli settlers in illegal West Bank settlements as illegal immigrants.

He's a useful idiot for Zionists.

The word "Zionist" has been perverted. Forty years ago it was a wonderful thing. Now it implies and signifies something very different. Insofar as supporting the right of Jews to have a homeland in Israel, I have always considered myself a Zionist. But now that word has somehow been dragged down into the mud by liberal America to be synonomous with being racist and supportive of killing innocent Palestinians. I get it. I just don't get it.
