Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Under pressure for killing a resolution denouncing white nationalism and neo-Nazism, Tennessee GOP lawmakers are belatedly offering an explanation. In a Friday email to TPM, Rep. Bob Ramsey, one of three Republicans on the State Government Subcommittee, said they objected to language that would ask law enforcement to consider the groups "domestic terrorist organizations." "It's beyond shocking that anyone in the year 2018 has to ask the RSLC or RNC why they won't condemn neo-nazism," Wexler-Waite said in a Friday statement. "The actions of the GOP-controlled Tennessee legislature are a punch in the gut to everything this country stands for and an insult to Jews, people of color, and all who have suffered at the hands of right wing extremists. There is zero excuse for why the legislature would even hesitate to pass this resolution and history will not forget the moment the Republican Party stood silent as its members condoned Nazis."

If a white supremacist group is strictly non-violent they would be strange AF but would they be terrorists?

The guy sounds like one of those obnoxious tea party trolls, who burned their bridges by attacking everybody else in the city council or state legislature and then acts shocked when nobody will co-sponsor his badly worded proposal.

Well, of course... after all, Der TrumpenFuhrer said there are good people on both sides.

I'd like to think you're joking but I suspect you're not.

In case you're not, you should actually consider the fact that there's a legit question in Tor's post that you should think about.

I've thought about it.

If grandma calls all blacks the N word, but never takes any action against them, is grandma racist?

I say no.

Tor's question is easier, but I applied the same definition. Terrorism means acts of terror, not bigoted beliefs.

Still a bit narrow in your thinking.

Do you think it's a good idea to start labeling people terrorists based solely on ideas, despite actions or lack there of?

"Do you think it's a good idea to start labeling people"

Not really.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

The GOP/Republicans/libertarians and white supremacists are one and the same now.

I say no.

Think harder. Of course she's a racist. What she is not is a terrorist.

But you can't equate racism with terrorism just to excuse hate.

... "It's beyond shocking that anyone in the year 2018 has to ask the RSLC or RNC why they won't condemn neo-nazism," ...

Because the Republicans are beginning to realize that, because of Pres Trump, they may need every vote they can get in the upcoming elections, and that they especially do not want to alienate what is becoming the new Republican base?
