A self-described "family values" conservative has resigned from the Iowa state legislature after he was caught on video kissing a lobbyist who is not his wife. Iowa Senate Majority Leader Bill Dix (R-Shell Rock) is seated next to the woman on a barstool in the 52-second video clip, which was posted on the Iowa Starting Line political website, when the lobbyist leans over to kiss the married lawmaker, reported the Des Moines Register. "Effective at 2pm today, Bill Dix resigned his position as Majority Leader and State Senator. I believe he made the right decision for himself and for his district, but most importantly, I believe he made the decision in the best interest of his family," said Iowa Senate President Jack Whitver in a statement.

heir to an old Iowa republican family political machine, he followed his great grandfather, his grandfather and his father into the political arena. old family friends and political insiders say that this political legacy may have been partially responsible for the senators fall from grace. specifically citing the appellation commonly associated with the senator ' Little Dix ' only referenced that he was the youngest of the Dix patriarchy to have served and was not a comment on his masculine endowment.

"If you drag a hundred-dollar bill through a trailer park, you never know what you'll find." - James Carville

It's the neoliberal position.

Just me being snarky about "passing the torch" through the generations. I personally can't stand these family dynasties in office. It isn't about public service - it's about being groomed to the family job in politics. A certain level of corruption almost certainly is built in. And that's a lot of the problem today - if you aren't groomed for it it's very difficult to break into without influence. And even then - better hope your closets are in order.
