Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The BBC has obtained leaked emails that show a lobbying effort to get US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson sacked for failing to support the United Arab Emirates against regional rival Qatar. Major Trump fundraiser and UAE-linked businessman Elliott Broidy met US President Donald Trump in October 2017 and urged him to sack Mr Tillerson, the emails reveal. In other emails, he calls the top US diplomat "a tower of Jello", "weak" and says he "needs to be slammed". Mr Broidy says Qatar hacked his emails.

Saudi Arabia, UAE and a number of Arab countries cut diplomatic ties with Qatar in June 2017 over its alleged support for terrorism, a claim which it denies. The unprecedented move was seen as a major split between powerful Gulf countries, who are also close US allies.

... tower of Jello ... I love Jello ...

I'm fine with this, given he's done nothing on Russian meddling in the upcoming election.
Plus we now know that Russia had the Trump campaign sack Romney and had Tillerson installed.
The surprise was how active Russia was in both those decisions.
Tillerson getting the "Order of Friendship" to Russia medal should've been a huge hint he was Moscow's man.

We should disentangle ourselves from all of the Arab nations, especially Saudi Arabia and their allies. Let's not forget who really attacked us on 9-11. Our leaders, including Obama, should be ashamed of their behavior towards Saudi ever since 9-11.

Much as I would like to agree with you on this, we have to keep Saudi Arabia stable and friendly so that they don't rally the all the Sunnis against the US. While I really think that MBS is trying to drag the Kingdom into the 21st Century, you are right that we really can't trust them.

As they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Rex is a businessman, first and foremost, so I think that the Russia angle, at least as it relates to him, is overblown. It takes about 2 years for a SecState to make an imprint one way or the other, so far I am not sure what to make of Sec. Tillerson.

#5 I agree with Danni. The USA exports oil now, so there is no value in paying the price for ME peace. Let the place burn if they want to, it will give them something to fight about over there, rather than over here.

I remember studying about this in college decades ago, but never hurts to inform those who never pay attention to business and economics.
