Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, March 04, 2018

Chaos here, backlash there, shock everywhere. And in Washington and around the globe another gasping chorus of WTF commentary: reckless, not normal, reality show run amok. And so on, et cetera, et cetera, for the one-hundredth-and-can't-remember time of the Trump Era. But there is something different about this week's spasm of sudden policy lurches, graceless personal insults, oozing scandal news, and ceaseless West Wing knife fights. That's left many in Washington and beyond wondering what happens in the inevitable moments -- every modern president has faced them -- when outside events take over, and the government has to deal with a major military confrontation, a major natural disaster or some other catastrophe.

Sure he can, he is an expert at it. First siphon of as much money as you can, then stiff your creditors. Winning.

Let's see if he manages any of the disasters he's created so far.

A crisis can't manage itself. Only an outside force can do that.

He'll do what all cowards do. He'll vanish until someone yells out the words "PHOTO-OP"

Just left Hawaii. The rest of the world is sunning on the beach and drinking Mai Tai's.

Have an umbrella drink, Zed. You can use my snorkeling gear.

...and the government has to deal with a major military confrontation, a major natural disaster...

Those things have already happened and he failed spectacularly.
Hurricane in PR...fail

Let's be fair, he's been useless and worse when it's not a crisis.

Perhaps because he himself is a crisis.

Uh, he passed out paper towels after a hurricane, what photo-op moment do you expect from a faked president?!

You can't single out Trump. He's no different from any other republican.

If a true crisis does ever threaten America during Trump's presidency, the one thing I absolutely believe is that he will figure out a way for him and his associates to make a profit off of it.

Now now, this is only a crisis if you believe in your country. For a lot of Conservatives around here, they are happy to see Democracy go down in flames as long as Trump is in the White House.

"Conservatives" don't believe in Democracy. They remind us of that constantly. They like "strongman" governments; POTUS certainly does. I think their ultimate goal is a kind of worldwide feudal system where a handful of them own everything and everybody else pays rent (and keeps their mouths shut).

Trump-style crisis management includes weekends in Florida playing golf and flogging club memberships to GOP rubes from Iowa or South Carolina. Even as bombs fall, grifter's gotta grift...
