Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Trump Treasury Secretary and former Goldman Sachs banker Steve Mnuchin isn't accustomed to facing direct challenges to his wild economic claims or protests over the GOP tax plan he helped craft, and after experiencing both during an event at UCLA's Burkle Center on Monday, Mnuchin demanded that video of his appearance be suppressed. "Steve Mnuchin being called on his plutocratic BS at UCLA. Enemy of the people! Foreclosed on 36,000 people and helped pass the biggest corporate tax cut in history." Jacob Woocher, UCLA student. According to the Wall Street Journal, Mnuchin complained to the audience that he usually only talks to "people who wanna listen to me speak" after students and others attending the event yelled out "I think you're full of ---" and denounced the Republican tax bill as an attack on "people who are in poverty."

Time to get busy getting more bodyguards and first class seats (at taxpayer expense, of course) so the poor man doesn't have to mingle with Hoi Polloi.

They might say mean things to him!

So much for the transparency of the Trump administration.

First the White House visitor logs are suppressed.

Now this.

Where will it end?

UCLA spokeswoman Peggy McInerny wrote in an email on Tuesday that Mr. Mnuchin "has retracted his permission for the Burkle Center to post its video and podcast of yesterday's event on its website, so we are unable to share either recording with you."

A spokeswoman for Mr. Mnuchin didn't dispute that he requested the university not post the video of the event.

Mr. Mnuchin "welcomed the chance to speak and discuss important economic issues," the spokeswoman said. "The event was open to the media and a transcript was published. He believes healthy debate is critical to ensuring the right policies that do the most good are advanced."

.. as the debate is physically carried outside the room Mnuchin constrains his singular discussion to "save baby democratic banks through deregulation" speak.

You can even hear him quietly droning in a monotone fashion while the first girl is bringing up the GOP tax bill - he didn't want any debate, not really.
