Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The U.S. intelligence community developed substantial evidence that state websites or voter registration systems in seven states were compromised by Russian-backed covert operatives prior to the 2016 election -- but never told the states involved, according to multiple U.S. officials. Top-secret intelligence requested by President Barack Obama in his last weeks in office identified seven states where analysts -- synthesizing months of work -- had reason to believe Russian operatives had compromised state websites or databases. Three senior intelligence officials told NBC News that the intelligence community believed the states as of January 2017 were Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Texas and Wisconsin.

The officials say systems in the seven states were compromised in a variety of ways, with some breaches more serious than others, from entry into state websites to penetration of actual voter registration databases.

While officials in Washington informed several of those states in the run-up to the election that foreign entities were probing their systems, none were told the Russian government was behind it, state officials told NBC News.

All state and federal officials who spoke to NBC News agree that no votes were changed and no voters were taken off the rolls.

After NBC's report on the compromised states aired Tuesday night, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Acting Press Secretary Tyler Houlton challenged its accuracy in a series of tweets. "NBC's reporting tonight on the 2016 elections is not accurate and is actively undermining efforts of the Department of Homeland Security to work in close partnership with state and local governments to protect the nation's elections systems from foreign actors," wrote Houlton.

And Dotard was prepared to give them the keys to the back door with his "Cyber Task Force" with them.

I wonder why the Obama Administration didn't tell the States about the Russian interference before the election?

I also wonder if this would be as big a deal if Hillary had been coronated, as planned...

You are right 7, the president then was a commie lover. He even said that he could help them right after he was re-elected.

Why are you asking naive questions?

Thanks to birtherism and Fox News propaganda, half of America thought the worse about Obama.

Add to that, Trump kept going around saying that if he lost he'd challenge the results.

If Obama came out in late October 2016 and said publicly that Russia was interfering in our election, and that whatever the election result we are all Americans who need to stick together and not let Putin's Russia divide us ... do you truly think that would've helped the situation? That Red State America would have been okay with that? Obama couldn't get these Red State Americans to believe he wasn't born in Kenya.

This is the point where all the Righties tell us they would have believed Obama and not accused him of playing politics and trying to influence the election. Hell, they don't even believe it now.
And let's not forget that McConnell had already shot Obama down when he wanted to go to the American people about the Russians.

Even to this day DHS is crying foul that NBC is reporting this news. Jessica Huseman's tweeting, confirming what NBC is reporting, is incongruently indignant. Rather humorous.

DHS is upset that NBC is confirming 7 systems were penetrated in some form. The Department of Homeland Security insists that no one hacked actual votes -- but admits it never ran an audit to check.

So DHS is all over NBC for implying something (that wasn't implied) while admitting they never did any forensic work to find out, just exactly, happened.

DHS - Department of Homeland Strawman.

Without McConnell confirming it, the pinheads at Faux Nooze would have shouted it down as partisan politics. McConnell knew Putin was hacking in and meddling and told Obama he would say it was only Obama campaigning for Hillary. For his bit of treason, his wife was rewarded with a cushy cabinet post. How much money did McChinless get for his treason?

www.dallasnews.com

"Donald Trump and the political action committees for Mitch McConnell, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, Lindsey Graham, John Kasich and John McCain accepted $7.35 million in contributions from a Ukrainian-born oligarch who is the business partner of two of Russian president Vladimir Putin's favorite oligarchs and a Russian government bank.

Mitch McConnell was the top recipient of Blavatnik's donations, collecting $2.5 million for his GOP Senate Leadership Fund under the names of two of Blavatnik's holding companies, Access Industries and AI Altep Holdings, according to Federal Election Commission documents and OpenSecrets.org."

There you go. McChinless sold out America for $2.5 million.

I find it ludicrous that anyone actually believes that the Russians hacked into voting systems but then stopped short of tampering with votes, voter registrations, etc. Anyone who would believe that is doing so out of choice because it backs up the legitimacy of the Trump Presidency, not because they honestly believe it.

Lots of hackers just hack to get in. Nothing more. I'm sure Russia spent millions each month and did not expect anything in return. /sarcasm off.
