Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, February 23, 2018

In trying to clarify his Wednesday comments about arming teachers and other school personnel, President Trump, a day later, aligned himself even more closely with the National Rifle Association on the issue of teachers with guns and beefing up school security. So much so, they seemed, at times, to be reading from the same script.

"I don't think I'll be going up against them," Trump said. "I really think the NRA wants to do what's right. I mean, they're very close to me; I'm very close to them; they're very, very great people. They love this country. They're patriots. The NRA wants to do the right thing."

What lobby can give the POTUS a script and he reads from it?

What POTUS is afraid to go up against a lobby like this?

The NRA needs to lose all support.

the NRA is so strong because of 8 years of OBAMA

#2 maybe somewhat true?

The worst thing that could ever have happened to GOP ideas is the implementation of them.

It's just a shame that Republicans have the memory of a goldfish. We will be back in this spot in a decade or so.

When someone wants to lie, they simply state "I don't recall".

Reagan did this when the Iran-Contra scandal broke.

As BruceBanner points out in his #6, it would really help your case, such as it is, if you actually read the linked article before demonstrating your abject stupidity by ignorantly commenting in it, pfc. boazotoes©.

You're welcome.

It is misleading. I was expected for Trump to be reading the same script by what the headline said. Sort of like Melania on Mrs. Obama's speech.

Trump Reads NRA Script
NRA script:
"...so-called gun-free zones...open targets...harden their schools...harden our schools...immediately harden our schools...Schools must be the most hardened targets..."
Trump script:
"...harden our schools...soften...gun-free zone...gun-free zones...gun-free zones...hardened target...hardened school..."
Hint: Look for the bold words in the article.

Again, you're welcome, pfc. boazotoes© .

One day after his forced "I hear you" session with parents of murdered children he just pissed all over their loss.

President Pee Pee rides again.

Dotard made it clear who is in control of the agenda. It's the NRA. He even said as much in an announcement, that he was in contact a lot with the NRA since the shooting. No doubt getting his marching orders from Wayne with a nice fat check to follow.

The GOP and the truth do not co-exist.

Gun sales are down, Remington is filing for bankruptcy, and the NRA blames Trump... who is kissing their butts to get back in favor.

"who is kissing their butts to get back in favor."

That won't take long. They need him as much as he needs them. Who else can blow off the murder of 17 high school kids faster than Trump? Less than 24 hours tops. The NRA loves him. New scripts are arriving hourly. Smear videos of the students were circulating before the black smoke of gunfire cleared.

This is how a slug like Trump makes America great again.

Since the NRA is a terrorist group and has deep ties to Russia, they are the enemy of America. It's nothing a well placed bunker buster on their corporate head quarters wouldn't solve however.

Fifteen Republicans offered alternatives to Trump, but the party chose Trump. Both the Republican-controlled House and the Republican-controlled Senate refuse to break with him. There is no doubt that Trump owns the Republican Party, and the Republican Party owns Trump.

But there was still the concept of Conservatism, separate and apart from the Republican Party, as espoused in CPAC. But after this weekend, it's clear that Trump owns Conservatism, and Conservatism owns Trump.

Are there left any Conservatives who will oppose Trump? Romney, perhaps?

Mitt Romney denounced Trump harshly and thoroughly as a "phony" and a "fraud" -- except later when Trump was thought to be considering him for Secretary of State when Romney suddenly had "increasing hope that President-elect Trump is the very man who can lead us to that better future."

Trump owns the Republican Party and, after this weekend, Conservatism itself -- and Conservatism now owns Trump: every thing he says, everything he does, every thing he is.

If you are a Conservative politician or a Conservative voter, Trump is where you are.
