Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, February 20, 2018

This was supposed to be "Infrastructure Week" for U.S. President Donald Trump, a time to unveil a long-promised plan to create jobs by revitalizing America's roads and bridges. Instead, the White House careened from crisis to crisis, with Trump's chief of staff fighting for his job, a mass shooting at a school in Florida, a fierce immigration battle on Capitol Hill and a report that a former Playboy model had an affair with Trump over a decade ago. It was capped by news that the office of U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller had charged 13 Russians and three Russian companies with conducting an operation aimed at sowing political divisions and undermining democracy in the United States, including by meddling in the 2016 presidential election campaign. Trump and his aides spent Friday behind closed doors after the charges were announced by U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. The president emerged late on Friday to go to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida for the weekend.

Well, it was more successful than "Made in America" week.
Trump couldn't organize a 4 y/o's birthday party.

Infrastructure week? When was that?

Seems like something was mentioned about passing it all to the States last week. And that took about 10 minutes.

I'm so glad we didn't elect Killary! It would have been one scandal and investigation after another. Such a relief we've been spared all that.

Why in the world is Humpy even talking about infrastructure yet when we are supposed to be solving the DACA dilemma?

The Trump Infrastructure plan is to tell the states and local governments to do it themselves and pin an arbitrary number to it without any plan for actual funding

Thank God we don't have to talk about his stupid infrastructure plan anymore!
--Pols everywhere, of every stripe

How convenient that a bunch of kids got shot in school. The saves The Dotard from having to explain and defend a left-handed plan ginned up in about 10 minutes by a cabal of political hacks bent on selling highways and bridges to Trump's campaign donors and the Chinese. Another day or two on subject and governors everywhere would have learned (1) there is no guarantee of a dollar of 'matching' funds from the Feds, (2) all those projects they want to do to attract jobs and tourists would result in raising taxes to the point where local voters would tax themselves over the deduction for state and local taxes, and (3) states still run the risk of seeing federal assets privatized, thus raising the cost of living in states from east to west, thanks to tolls that would be paid to Wilbur Ross/ BlackRock / Xi Jinping...

announcing a tax plan where he screws states, then announcing that he's switching infrastructure financing from 80/20 fed/state to 20/80 fed/state?

wow. what a great week that he ruined with affairs and crimes.

"How convenient that a bunch of kids got shot in school. "

Where is your empathy, you cad? Don't you realize that Trump was deprived one whole day of golf because of that.

Nobody understands the sacrifices he makes. It's so lonley at the top. ~ LOL

Forget infrastructure. I would be happy if someone would simply replace the light at the end of the tunnel that went dark in January 2017.

Trump's contribution to every situation, piece of legislation or crisis is always the same, he foams of the mouth in person and on twitter. Then he goes back to watching TV or playing golf. There is nothing else there.

The golf course is where Trump does his best plottin' and schemin'.

On another crisis front, I think that where he came up with the idea of banning bump stocks. In other words, he had to think of the least possible thing he could do to respond to the Parkland crisis without risking the millions of dollars he gets from the gun manufacturers' lobby, the NRA.

No doubt he'll call his BFFs at the NRA to tell them "just kidding."
