Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The U.S. official in charge of protecting American elections from hacking says the Russians successfully penetrated the voter registration rolls of several U.S. states prior to the 2016 presidential election. In an exclusive interview with NBC News, Jeanette Manfra, the head of cybersecurity at the Department of Homeland Security, said she couldn't talk about classified information publicly, but in 2016, "We saw a targeting of 21 states and an exceptionally small number of them were actually successfully penetrated."

This --- should piss off every American.

What the American people don't know about the 2016 election and how Trump got elected is not even talked about-classified.

Looks like a airtight case of willful negligence too me.

Apparently.

Too bad we had no idea this would happen ...

Or did we ...

The Obama administration received multiple warnings from national security officials between 2014 and 2016 that the Kremlin was ramping up its intelligence operations and building disinformation networks it could use to disrupt the U.S. political system, according to more than half a dozen current and former officials.

Here's my guess, Obama had total confidence Hillary would win, so why piss off the Russians ...

Until she lost, then hey, kick them out ....

Curious after reading this article from Time, why is this thread article News?

July 20, 2017
Russia had been probing U.S. state and local electoral systems for years. In 2008, Moscow hacked the campaigns of both Obama and John McCain. Then, in 2014, the Russians became more brazen. "Previously, when you discovered the Russians somewhere, they disappeared like ghosts–poof!" says Michael Daniel, former White House cybersecurity coordinator. "After 2014, you'd find them in networks, and they'd stay, almost like they were taunting us. They became much more aggressive."

That should be a simple answer for you, just like the others who have demanded evidence that the Russians actually affected the voting system; not just affecting the "social media narrative."

Not to suggest this is evidence, but clearly, it is being implied that the evidence exists. I'm guessing it will come fully to light sooner rather than later. Although, possibly later to highlight the Mueller Probe Parade that will inevitably take place upon its conclusion.

MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKRIS!

Read the article or watch the video. Jeanette Manfra, Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for the Office of Cyber Security, is putting her name on it: "We saw targeting of 21 states [by the Russians] and an exceptionally small number of that 21 were successfully penetrated [by the Russians]."

Even more so, she's been given permission by Homeland Security to make the statement.

That should speak volumes to any rational observer. Why do you question it's NEWSWORTHYNESS?

Cheers for the Russian hackers. Patriotic American? Traitor? The latter is the best answer. I can't honestly know how I would have reacted had the situation been reversed but I do hope I would have wanted an investigation and actions to reverse the result of Russian intervention. I believe any decent American should want that.

What this story indicates (and the government is withholding from us) is that Russia may have impacted the election by changing the voter roles and hacking voting machines.

When you lose the House and the Senate in November will it be a problem for you then?

I will answer my own question for you.

It will be a much bigger problem for you then. You are just too short sighted to see it.

Because when Dems are in control they WILL do something about the fact that our President is not upholding his oath of office and doing everything he can to defend the Constitution and protect the American people from foreign enemies who are determined to undermine our Democratic institutions and sow chaos and division in our country.

Apparently the goals of Trump and the Republicants are the same as the Russians.

To undermine our Democratic institutions and sow chaos and confusion and divide in our country against itself to weaken us.

So Obama knew the Russians were hacking us and trying to disrupt our elections and he still laughed at Romney's claim about Russia being our biggest threat? He still got caught on a hot mic trying to find wiggle room?

Maybe he should have thought of Russia as a big community and organized them.

It's Randism.

Ayn Rand rejects altruism, the view that self-sacrifice is the moral ideal. She argues that the ultimate moral value, for each human individual, is his or her own well-being. ... For this reason, Rand believes that selfishness is a virtue. atlassociety.org
