Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, February 07, 2018

ormer Vice President Joe Biden said Tuesday that if he were one of President Donald Trump's attorneys, he would suggest Trump not consent to a special counsel interview for fear of being caught misleading investigators. "The President has some difficulty with precision," Biden said in an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo. ... CNN reported last month that special counsel Robert Mueller provided Trump's attorneys with a range of topics for an interview, and that Trump's attorneys are arguing Mueller has not met the threshold for an interview. Trump has said publicly he would be willing to sit for an interview under oath, although The New York Times reported Monday that Trump's attorneys are advising Trump against an interview because of concerns he might be charged with lying to investigators.

Biden is right. Trump says whatever he feels like at a given moment. Under oath he'd (in some cases unwittingly) commit perjury on trivial matters that don't even implicate him.

"The President has some difficulty with precision,"

Understatement of the year.

God I wish he had run for President.

Joe...Shhhhhh!

That is EXACTLY why we want him to testify.

...Jeffj

Jeff, this is why you have less credibility than you might otherwise be due. You sound like a note from his mom. "My little Donnie cant be held to knowing what he is going to say, so he should be immune from testifying under oath. Dont you people let that mean policeman ask him any questions. Sincerely, Donnie's mom."

By now, Jeff, as if you havnt noticed, he lies about most everything. Instead of insisting that such routinely dishonest behavior from a president is intolerable, you ----- foot around telling us he is not even smart enough to tell the truth under oath, and then, you soften even more with ,that mealy mouthed admission that he is a compulsive liar, by telling us that if, if he made a boo boo, it would probably be about some insignificant tertiary detail.

Jeff, It would be just as likely to be about something very significant, and potentially, very illegal.

Admit it, you know trump would shamelessly lie to cover his ass. Mueller will be asking questions about felonies. If Trump feels the truth might put him in a bad light, he would will lie like a rug.

You want him to be given a mulligan in advance. Kinda like a participation award. Stop minimizing his avarice. It diminishes you so much. He is sick. He is incapable of telling the truth. You know it. That is as unacceptable from him, as it would be if he was a Democrat. You're coddling him, and trying to protect him from the reality of law, national expectations, and the responsibility for national security.

Start demanding more, and defending his incompetence, and dishonesty and avarice less. You are smart enough to recognize the truth. If he cant tell the truth, the legal process which protects our country from that type of President must be allowed to run its course.

It's time to let the chips fall where they may.

You are asking he not be held to the same performance level you would demand, and have demmanded of every other president.

Biden is delusional. How old will he be by the next election 80?

He needs to see the congressional pharmacist and get some of those alzheimer pills.

Yeah I think he could pass the standard "cognitive" test.

You read WAY too much into my post.

So, I'll clarify a bit. Given that Trump is SO impulsive and so freely lies about stuff that is trivial - when the truth really wouldn't reflect badly on him - he'd perjure himself over something trivial anyway. From there, it stands to reason, that if the stakes were high he'd perjure himself out of self-preservation as a default.

#11 | Posted by JeffJ at 2018-02-07 09:43 PM | Reply

So you acknowledge that he is incapable of being honest about literally anything, but you have decided that's good enough for you, and he should not be subject to law and the legal system, and you dont find this compelling enough to stop defending and supporting his treachery?

This is why you lack the credibility you might enjoy if your hero wasnt such an incompetent psycho. You have not the intellectual integrity or ability to hold him to the standards demanded of the other 44 presidents.

"Say it ain't so Gropin Joe."

In other words, you hold Joe to a standard to which you refuse to hold Trump.

You're the problem.

POLITICIANS SHOULD TAKE A CUE FROM THE COPS..WHEN ASKED, WHY DID YOU LIE? THEY SHOULD SAY, "I WAS IN FEAR FOR MY POLITICAL LIFE"...AND THEN THEY'D ALL GET TOGETHER AND PASS A BILL CALLED "JUSTIFIABLE PREVARICATION"

Strawman much?

Google: 5th Amendment

If Trump were to testify under oath he'd almost certainly perjure himself. So, his lawyer(s) should prevent him from doing so.

Or, as you seem to suggest, we should can all of our due process protections and just have him drawn and quartered because Trump.

Jeff, he is a crook. You admit you believe he is incapable of honesty. Your defense of him is "hell yes he will lie, so dont let him be interviewed.

Let him be interviewed. He can take the 5th, or he can tell the truth under oath. That has been the standard all politicians are and have been held to. If he is incapable of honesty, he has no place in government.

He will be subpoenaed.

You admit he will lie and you encourage us to treat him differently than every other President and politician in history because Trump. The fact that he is incapable of answering truthfully is not a defense against putting him under oath and letting the chips fall where they may.

Yes, let the legal protection of our system of government do its job.

I'm not encouraging anything. I am merely pointing out that any lawyer worth a damn would prevent him from being interviewed without a subpoena and would then tell him to answer all questions with, "I don't recall..."

He'll be 78, Trump will be 74. Where's your threshold before you ridicule someone for being too old to run? Lemme guess - somewhere in between 74 and 78?

My favorite Bidenism, "In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking."

"Under oath he'd (in some cases unwittingly) commit perjury on trivial matters that don't even implicate him."

I doubt prosecutors would bother to ask Trump about trivial matters if they had him under oath before a grand jury. "Is your hair real?" and "How much did you pay for Melania's ring?" wouldn't be high on their list of questions.

Biden has his own skeletons in his closet. His very friendly relationship with the credit card issuers in Delaware are a sewage sump that never be exposed unless he attempts to run. He is a carrier pol, and he is much richer now than he was when he entered politics. Hint, no one ever got that rich on a government pay check.
