Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, February 06, 2018

The former director of the Central Intelligence Agency on Sunday blasted a Republican memo alleging abuses of power by the FBI and the Justice Department. John Brennan accused Rep. Devin Nunes (R.-Calif.), the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, of selectively releasing information to accuse law enforcement officials of improperly obtaining a warrant to monitor the communications of a former Trump campaign adviser. "It's just appalling and clearly underscores how partisan Mr. Nunes has been," Brennan said in an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press." "He has abused the chairmanship of [the Intelligence Committee]," Brennan said.

So says the person who is known to have leaked confidential material to the press.

And who the Washington Post said Obama should fire him for lying about the CIA spying on Congress.

This all the Dems have, a leaker and a lair?

Trump is a much more prolific liar and as just as big a leaker, Comrade Sawdust. You need to rethink your insults.

"So says the person who is known to have leaked confidential material to the press."

Link please. What Nunes did with his pathetic memo should be considered treason. The Democratic memo needs to be leaked and read by millions of Americans so that the utter dishonesty of the Nunes memo can be known. Even if the Dem. memo remains undisclosed the Nunes memo is still a nothingburger.

What Nunes did with his pathetic memo should be considered treason.

It didn't contain any confidential information, nor did it expose any methods that are confidential.

So, why should it be considered treason?

It contained the name of the person being investigated, and the name of one of the people who helped open that investigation.

And that's just two chilling examples of what it did.

Do you suppose someone else in the future, someone who finds out something contrary to US interests, will want his name disclosed at some point after that by some Congressional committee?

Or will he/she just keep quiet and not alert the US investigators?

Wait, so you're attacking Brennan for doing what Nunes did, in an attempt to defend nunes?

Prior to being released to the public, the entire House was able to view the memo. The Executive (and that included the FBI and DOJ) had the memo for 5 days before Trump approved its release to the public. There is no abuse of power in any of that.

Just because you can do something, doesn't mean it's right.

You left out that this was partisan corruption blanketed by procedure so guys like you can fall back on the procedure instead of the morality and the consequences.

Attacking the pillars of our country?

So, we the public should be kept in the dark about any and ALL abuses or mistakes made by said pillars?

The FBI is above reproach? Was that the case when J Edgar Hoover was running the agency? His misdeeds were revealed to the public. Should that have never come out?

"The FBI is above reproach? Was that the case when J Edgar Hoover"

The problem was Hoover.
Not the FBI itself.

Unlike, say, your opinion of the EPA or Department of Education itself.

#18 | POSTED BY BRUCEBANNER

I have defended them. The memo in no way compromised national security, nor did it expose any valuable assets or confidential methods.

It DID expose potential abuse by some within the FBI, specifically but not limited to, Bruce Ohr.

Releasing the memo was neither a corrupt act nor an abuse of power.

The talking point changed from, "It will expose national security secrets!" just prior to the release to, "It's a nothing-burger!" immediately after the release. There's a reason for that.

I couldn't say.
Can you?

What I can say, is any corruption in the investigation of Nasser is likely unrelated to the Steele dossier.

But with a President who likes to watch underage girls in the girl's locker room, even that isn't a guarantee.

Cuz they know Trump will refuse to release it. It will get out, it will embarrass Trump and the Republicans but it will probably do so in a less than legal manner. Fine with me.
