Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, February 01, 2018

President Trump has told a lot of brazen lies in his first year in office, but few are as easily exposed as the one he told Thursday morning about the TV ratings for his first State of the Union address. ... TV-ratings information is public, and Trump's tweet was quickly fact checked. Unsurprisingly, it's false. Fewer people watched Trump's first SOTU than the initial addresses of Presidents Obama, Bush, and Clinton. Obama's first SOTU in 2010 had just over 48 million viewers, while Bush's, in 2002, had nearly 52 million. Clinton's 1993 address just edged out Trump's with 45.8 million viewers.

Trump lies. Surprise, surprise.

FOX is #1 among traitors, so it isn't a surprise they'd have the most viewers.

Trump is just saying what his Trumpsters want to hear.

So what if it is a lie?

It makes them feel all warm inside.

It's makes them almost as happy to hear Trump lie as it does hearing Trump is tearing apart hard working families whom they have never met nor have done anyone harm and sending them off to strange lands and into poverty and misery.

Rump could call into Faux and Fiends, compliment Ainsley Earhardts breasts on national TV and deny his own words. His mouth-breathing deplorables would believe him, as would Ainsley, claiming she wasn't in the room at the time...

Jake Tapper‏ @jaketapper

Jake Tapper Retweeted Donald J. Trump
Fewer viewers than the first SOTU's for Obama in 2010, Bush in 2002, Clinton in 1994.

"Which means Trump's initial SOTU, the third longest in history, is now also the least watched address in nearly a quarter of a century."

#7 | Posted by Gal_Tuesday at 2018-02-01 11:25 PM | Reply

And then there were the lies of omission. What Trump omitted from his SOTU is that the walls are closing in on him and he's planning to burn the house down rather than face justice.

#8 | Posted by Twinpac at 2018-02-02 02:18 AM | Reply

Pathetic and laughable attempt to legitimize Trump's lie about viewership. MOre people didn't watch, on purpose, than for any previous SOTU because Trump is the most hated President since Nixon. Probably has bigger negative numbers than Tricky Dick. I was a non-watcher, and I've never missed a SOTU before. I promise you, me and millions like me, will never watch a SOTU while Trump is the illigitimate President.

"President Trump is probably correct - yet the dog kennel insists on labeling all items in the dish as turds instead of investigating to see if they are treats."

Only those too stupid to understand what the actual meaning of his threats are. Like ending civil service protections for federal employees. Can you point out when he made that threat in his speech?

This evil president is threatening me, I feel so tenuous and scared! He is moving on border security, challenging chain migration, expecting the DOJ to enforce our laws, and ready to level NK if needed! So mean!

Look, I get that you are trying to troll. But you sound like a 12 year old. No one here is going to be "triggered" or pissed. We all just think you're kind of idiot no matter how many screen names you sign in with.

Because the president is doing some pretty serious damage to the country, how about you let the adults talk and you go play video games or something?

#14 - I am not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch of the imagination, but the language in your post is definitely odd. I seriously doubt English is your first language. Anyway, it was a good rant on your part - rubbish, but a good rant.

Here is a link to an article which explains how Trump lied.

"He is moving on border security, challenging chain migration,"

Talking point words to replace "family reunification" which has been an American value for 200 years.

In the 1800's we didn't allow Chinese immigrants the right to family reunification. Many Chinese immigrants lost touch with their relatives, never spoke to them again. Listened to an interview yesterday with a fifth generation Chinese American who actually went back to his great, great grandfathers home town in China. All of his brothers had also emigrated to the U.S. No one in his hometown, including their family, every heard from them again because here in the U.S. we didn't allow them family reunification and if the went back to China to visit it was unlikely they would ever be readmitted to the U.S. That is not the America we pretend to believe in. Trump and his followers want a mean spirited, uncaring version of America most of us simply do not want nor believe in.
