"It ... increases the risk of a constitutional crisis by setting the stage for subsequent actions by the White House to fire (Special Counsel Robert) Mueller or, as now seems more likely, Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein," Representative Adam Schiff said in an opinion piece in the Washington Post.

Anyone else remember that time -- it was around a year, as I recall -- when Devin Nunes was forced to recuse himself from the Russia investigation for engaging in a coverup on behalf of dementia don?

There will be the Saturday Night Massacre Redux and when that doesn't work the Quislings will circle the wagons around Trump and he'll try to do something worse.

We're in trouble, boys and girls. Not trouble of an abstract sort it's fun to play with in blogs. The real sort of Depression Era Pearl Harbor trouble you hoped you'd never live to see.

There's nothing funny about you Trump supporters. You guys are increasingly terrifying maggots.

#2 I am saddened to say that given the current level of immoral behavior from the GOP, Trump could fire the entire DOJ and FBI and not only wouldn't they lift a finger to remediate the situation, they will actively go on TV to make excuses for him.

The GOP are scum.

Trump is only living out a long standing Republican tradition of treason which started with Nixon and has been part of the legacy of every single Republican President since.

Not sure why people are so afraid of the truth coming out.

If the memo is false it will quickly be proven so.

If not, well we will have to see what is says.

Seems a lot of people are in great panic over this.

Isn't there a movie out about the heroes who released the Pentagon Papers.

What is the quote?

"For when everything is classified, then nothing is classified, and the system becomes one to be disregarded by the cynical or the careless, and to be manipulated by those intent on self-protection or self-promotion."

- If the memo is false it will quickly be proven so.

It would require more classified intel to prove the GOP-written memo false.

Kyle Griffin‏ @kylegriffin1

"Trump suggested to aides and confidants that the memo might give him the justification to fire Rosenstein -- something about which Trump has privately mused -- or make other changes at the [DOJ], which he had complained was not sufficiently loyal to him."

Here's the first part of a rebuttal for the memo:

I'm starting to think releasing this memo could blow up in Trump's face the way firing Comey did. He's so convinced this will help his case, but will it really:

This memo would actually be damning for Trump in a sane reality

Rosenstein (Trump appointee) thought Carter Page (Trump campaign official) was so sketchy that he had to renew FISA surveillance on him (which was first placed in 2014 because the FBI thought he was a Russian agent)

Also, does the Trump admin really want the spotlight on Carter Page?

1. He talks too much: @chrislhayes got more out of Page in 5 minutes than anyone could hope for

2. Page did make those trips to Moscow and met with the head of Rosneft...

That confirms parts of the dossier.

What could this memo possible say?

It will claim that the DoJ had no justification for getting the FISA warrant on Carter Page.

Pretty thin reed to hang your political career on in my estimation.

We will be fighting about this for days and meanwhile what has Congress done to negotiate the CR and get a vote on DACA?

Feb 8th is now only 4 business days away.

Hope McConnell has that "level play" field all ready.

He is gonna need a fleet of bulldozers to scrape Trump's crap off of it now.
