The attacks on the institutions from positions of political power are weakening this country.

He was going to retire in March.

#4 | Posted by lee_the_agent at 2018-01-29 01:24 PM | Reply

It seems he is still going to retire in March. He is stepping down now and will be taking his accrued leave, which means he will collect a paycheck until March when he officially retires.

Or, as Fox Fake News reports it:

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe 'removed' from the bureau

Bradley P. Moss‏ @BradMossEsq
McCabe remains on leave until March.

Once he is officially off the FBI payroll, the Government has no ability to stop him from talking to the press, with the exception of classified information.

I anticipate he may have a few things to say in his own defense this spring.

James A. Gagliano‏ @JamesAGagliano
Everybody please stop!

McCabe's retirement has long been in works.

As deputy director, there are NO lateral transfers & he wasn't going to be director.

Dir. Wray entitled to his own DD.

Andy probably headed out on terminal leave w/private sector offer in hip pocket.

"Andrew McCabe was forced to step down ahead of his official retirement date in March, reports CBS News.

His exit from the top law enforcement agency comes a week after a report that Mr Trump wanted him out.

It was also reported last week that the president had asked Mr McCabe during an Oval Office meeting whom he voted for."

From Corky's link:

"Mr McCabe, who was already expected to step down in early 2018 upon becoming eligible for his pension, is now on leave ahead of his official retirement date, CBS News reports."

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe 'removed' from the bureau

So Wray removed McCabe this week after the story broke last week that Wray threatened to resign after being pressured by Sessions to remove McCabe? Something is fishy somewhere.

Trump will call this a "win." ~ And then make up some outlandish lie.

Of course Trump will call anything that weakens the FBI a "win."

That's interesting when you consider this:

Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., a member of the House Intelligence and Judiciary committees, told MSNBC that if McCabe was departing "for any reason other than personal, this is going to be a problem" because of the president's "desire to remove people who he perceives to stand in the way of him being cleared in the Russia investigation."

So was he removed or did he quit? Figuring that out could influence Mueller's investigation.

NEW: FBI Associate Deputy Director David Bowdich has been appointed to Acting Deputy Director of the FBI, replacing McCabe:

In April 2016, David Bowdich assumed the position of associate deputy director of the FBI. In this role, he oversees the management of all FBI personnel, budget, administration, and infrastructure. Prior to this appointment, he served as assistant director in charge of the FBI's Los Angeles Field Office from December 2014 to April 2016.

From September 2012 to December 2014, Mr. Bowdich served as the special agent in charge of the Counterterrorism Division in the Los Angeles Field Office. In that role, he led the Joint Terrorism Task Force, which was responsible for all international and domestic terrorism investigations in the Los Angeles region, surrounding counties, and the extraterritorial region of Southeast Asia.

Sounds like a qualified replacement.

Wonder what he said when Trump asked him who he voted for....

This from December, 2017:

Even agents who believe that Mr. McCabe is being treated unfairly agree that, for Mr. Wray to succeed, he will most likely have to choose a new deputy.

Officials say that Mr. Wray is leaning toward promoting David L. Bowdich, currently the third ranking official in the bureau. He is well liked inside the F.B.I. and is seen as someone who was not part of Mr. McCabe's inner circle. Mr. Bowdich, the former top agent in the Los Angeles Field Office, is best known for being the public face of the F.B.I. in California after the 2015 San Bernardino terrorist attack.

Before being appointed as the number 2 guy by Wray, Bowdich was promoted to the number 3 guy in the FBI by Comey:

Sure, sure, but is he "friends" with Mueller?

Apparently, that's more important than anything in the eyes of Trumpians.

David Wright‏ @DavidWright_CNN

News: Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe's departure came as a surprise, even to some expecting his March retirement. One source told @CNN that today's departure was not in the plans as of Friday.

The source said McCabe was told this morning to step down. A second source described McCabe's departure as being "removed."

Another source familiar said it was a "mutual" decision: "It was mutual. He had enough of being undermined and criticized." But Trump and the admin was "not happy" with him, the same source said.

FBI Director Chris Wray brought in his executive assistant directors and told them McCabe was leaving -- effective noon today, a different source said. McCabe has left the building already, CNN is told.

Don't know about that but they know each other:

In 2011, Mr. Bowdich was selected to handle the transition of a new FBI Director given that Director Mueller's 10-year term expired in September 2011. After Director Mueller received a two-year extension, Mr. Bowdich was named as the special assistant to the associate deputy director.

Sunlight is a good cheap disinfectant for a lot of things. But, not the best.

Unfortunately, the ultraviolet light in sunlight breaks down chemical bonds and causes colors to fade and fabrics, vinyls and plastics to deteriorate rapidly.

Comey praises McCabe: He 'stood tall' while 'small people' tried to tear down the FBI

James Comey

@Comey
Special Agent Andrew McCabe stood tall over the last 8 months, when small people were trying to tear down an institution we all depend on. He served with distinction for two decades. I wish Andy well. I also wish continued strength for the rest of the FBI. America needs you.

29 - Rumor is that he had his agents change their 302's (A FD-302 form is used by FBI agents to "report or summarize the interviews that they conduct" and contains information from the notes taken during the interview by the non-primary agent.)

Totally innocent; don't look over here--
I like Strozk text comment:

"this is, there are VERY inflammatory things in the 302s we didn't turn over to Congress (because they weren't relevant to understanding the focus of the investigation) that are going to come out in the FOIA and absolutely inflame Congress. I'm sure that Jim and Trisha and Dave and Mike are all considering how things like that play out as they talk amongst themselves"

Getting good now.
