Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, January 27, 2018

Matthew Yglesias, Vox: President Donald Trump's first non-Fox television interview in a long time, conducted with CNBC's Joe Kernen from Davos, Switzerland, is in many respects weirdly devoid of substance. And much of the substance that's there consists of misstatements of fact. But lurking in that is an important insight: Trump is holding the office of president, but he's not doing the job of president. He seems to have no real idea what's going on, even with his own signature policy moves.

Some of his misstatements have the color of propaganda, but often he seems to be caught up in other people's propaganda or even to have misunderstood his own talking points. He's disengaged from the details of big questions like NAFTA -- "I may terminate NAFTA, I may not," he says profoundly. He can't even describe his own negotiating positions in the immigration standoff accurately.

Listening to him talk is interesting from an entertainment perspective (he did once host a popular television show), but it conveys no information about the world, the American government, or the Trump administration's policies.

He has no signature policy moves. Other than the "Failing Wall".

"He has no signature policy moves. Other than the "Failing Wall"."

Which, in the transcript of his conversation with Mexico's president, he called "vote bait" and not really all that important.

So that leaves nothing. An empty shell.

I'm sure there's a psychological term for what goes on in his head but that's way above my pay grade. To me he's just a pig whose only interest is self gratification anywhere he can get it. Greed, power and the need to be important in a world where he doesn't belong.

I'd call him the great pretender except he isn't very good at it. I think the only person he fools is himself.

Trump was perfect, say nothing, no details, the MSM has proved itself to be disingenuous and particularly malicious to him. Don't give them a thing.

Perfect if you're an idiot.

Which you are. So you're excused. Idiot.

"Don't give them a thing."

It's too late for that. Trump has already provided the ammunition for his removal from office. You can take your pick of charges the Mueller investigation has at their disposal. What method would you prefer? Indictment or impeachment?

For someone you think is "perfect" he sure goes out of his way to prove you're opinion of him is badly misplaced.

I hate to see you go down with a sinking ship . . . but if you insist, good luck.

Don't worry about CRASSUS. He's not the sort to stay with Travis at the Alamo. He's up and over the wall.

The Deep State is a massive apparatus, backed by massive lobbying and massive infusions of cash. To some extent every President is putty against it. Roosevelt begged workers to rise up and support him else he could do nothing. Trump takes it to another level by simply NEVER learning or participating on behalf of his own constituency at all.

Apple is repatriating over $250 billion for investment in the US and the tax bill alone for that is $38 billion. The article had some factual problems and skewed suppositions. This is why we do our fact checking before knee jerk reaction. www.google.com

Billionaire and white nationalist Donald John Trump is disgracing the Office of the President and an embarrassment to us all.

Trump forgets that America will outlast him and history will not be kind to him and his supporters for his blatant disregard for the truth.

The Office of the Presidency is bigger than any one man. If he doesn't come to realize this soon it will consume and destroy him. Like it did for Nixon and Clinton. And they had even less arrogance than our Stable Genius.

Sorry, Crassus, my post was harsh.

I'm just tired of the folks who'll justify Trump's behavior no matter what.

He says nothing? Good move!

He says a bunch of nonsense? The left is just misinterpreting him on purpose!

He makes it painfully obvious he's ignorant and incompetent? That's because he's an outsider and an outsider is what we need!

He's an immoral, slimy POS? Never mind all our moralizing over the past several decades, he gets a mulligan(s)!

It's tiring and it's disingenuous nonsense.

"It's tiring and it's disingenuous nonsense.'

It is indeed all three. However, as nonsensical as it appears, there are still some people out there who believe it's all going to come out in the wash ~ somehow and someway ~ that's beyond our mere mortal comprehension.

My seniority on this site is 12. So I've been here long enough to know that no problem has ever been solved, no mind has ever been changed and no opinion has ever altered a damn thing.

It's just worth taking everything so seriously.
