Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, January 25, 2018

Democrats said they were heartened Thursday by President Donald Trump's support for an immigration plan that would provide a pathway to citizenship for hundreds of thousands of young immigrants, while Republicans were more cautious. Moderate Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., said he was "very encouraged" by Trump's surprising words, which the president made late Wednesday in impromptu comments to reporters. Like other Democrats, Manchin shrugged off subsequent attempts by White House officials to pull back Trump's comments. Despite his previously harsh rhetoric, Trump told reporters he had a message for the Dreamers: "Tell 'em not to be concerned, OK? Tell 'em not to worry. We're going to solve the problem."

- No way that the GOP deports the Dreamers

Yeah, right, Porky. Because Republicans are neither that cruel nor that stupid, eh?

You are wrong so often it obviously doesn't bother you any more.

Your inability to distinguish caricature from argument in your posts would drive a judge crazy. Here, people just point and laugh.

We can assume Donald is lying.

Democrats are listening to Jello and thinking it is meaningful. It isn't. When Trump hears from his base he'll throw the Dreamers back under the bus.

Pot meet kettle.

You haven't made a substantive argument since the 70's.

Now hurry along, Bingo is commencing in the Seniors Lounge.

Like I said, still no argument, just caricature. Boring.

This is always a good assumption .... if you ignore one simple fact. This fact goes to the heart of american delusion, it is the source of all the things that make no sense, it is the source of the paranoia, it is the source of our polarized electorate.

There are certain things that congress (and the presidents do) that do not fit into their political persona. For example, Reagan's economic policies were very very liberal, while bill clinton's were very very conservative.

Why is this and why do people not understand it? Because the most important thing is to keep the public ignorant. No one in congress can or will say that illegal immigration is an integral part of our economy and it will not be stopped, however, this is the meaning of all their actions. Both sides agree on this, just as both sides agreed on the extremist right-wing Patriot Act or the extremist left-wing bank bailouts.

" Reagan's economic policies were very very liberal, while bill clinton's were very very conservative."

Slashing income tax rates from 70% to 28% was liberal. What are you smoking? To this day, we have huge debt because of Ronald Reagan.

Letting people keep their money is liberal. Taking it from them is authoritarian. Authoritarians marketing themselves as liberals is kind of funny.

Taxation is not authoritarian when enacted by a democratically elected Congress. It's ridiculous and dishonest to pretend otherwise. It's an excuse to not tax enough to pay the nation's bills. I trust FDR, I have no trust in SitzKrieg. Rhymes with Blitzkreig, coincidence? I think not.

Trump created this problem so he could hold them hostage for his wall.

$20 billion for a useless wall.

$0 to solve the health care crisis. (Remember how serious it was a few months again?)

"Trump created this problem so he could hold them hostage for his wall."

You stated that more concisely than I even considered. You're exactly right.

If the Dems in Congress were to cave and agree to provide funding for that stupid ------- wall, I will be blown away by their lack of backbone.

Should have kept the $150 billion we gave to Iran. We could have Built the wall and saved the Dreamers + their 3rd cousins. But instead we helped Dreamers in Iran.

We didn't "give" Iran $150 Billion. We unfroze their money.

Who on earth is feeding you such horse manure? And more to the point, why are you falling for it?

There's Danni for you, only looking at one thing. I don't know that what you say is true, but let's stipulate that it is....

Reagan spent like a drunk sailor on leave and it all was charged off to the national debt. Just like Trump, lowering taxes is paid for by charging it to the national debt. That is a liberal (and very socialistic) economic policy.

You have to ask? You're gonna have a 'come to jesus' moment. If you know what you just said, and you do know it, because you just said it, then you are an uncommonly gifted American. Compared to the whole world, it's a low bar.

Art of the deal in action. There will be some give and take and Congress will pass immigration legislation before the next budget expiration. Like him or hate him he's framed the issues in a way that Congress can find common ground if Congressfolk actually want to do their jobs.
