Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Donald Trump had planned to leave Washington on Friday around 4 P.M. -- even as of Friday morning, with Congress showing no sign of resolving the budget -- in order to make it to his Floridian haven, where he was throwing himself a party in honor of his one-year anniversary as president. It didn't take an expert political strategist to question the optics of leaving Washington -- on a taxpayer-funded flight -- when the government is on the brink of a shutdown, so Trump adjusted his plans. He now intends to leave Saturday morning, with plenty of time left to make it to the party. (It's unclear what his move would be if the bill does not pass.) This is according to Bloomberg's Jennifer Jacobs, who originally reported the story

Of course he did.

That piece of ---- could care less about the crisis of the supposed "government" at this point. He's all about whatever will make his dotard ass money.

Trump is trying to avoid giving these celebrants their money back.

As with most of us, life goes on. The Gov shutdown is no big deal.

Trump will not weaponize the shutdown as Obama did and people will figure out it is not such a big deal.

Selling Access to the President seems a tad unseemly.

Is it a political fund raiser covered by Campaign Finance Laws, or just a straight up quip pro quo for access to Benedict Donald? You know, like buying a signed ball from creepy old Pete Rose at his sidewalk kiosk in Vegas.

$250,000 gets you dinner and a photograph with the president. 30 years of living in this country, paying taxes and raising an American family gets you deported back to Mexico. #TrumpShutdown

"Trump will not weaponize the shutdown as Obama did"

Good God, the amnesia is catching.

Google Ted Cruz, and get back to us.

Yeah, its no big deal that the GOP is completely incompetent and completely in charge.

More so a big deal that our supposed "leader" is more worried about profiting off of his position than actually leading.

Good God, the amnesia is catching.

The government shutdown is affecting everyone, even Michelle Obama. Michelle had two fundraisers planned over the weekend and was forced to cancel both of them because of the shutdown.

The first fundraiser was planned for Friday and she was scheduled to headline a $32,000-a-head political fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee in Los Angeles. She had another fundraiser planned for Sunday in San Francisco. Proceeds from that event -- with tickets ranging from $32,000 to $500 each -- were to have gone to the Democrats' efforts to recapture the House.

The events may be held at a later time, but no new dates have been released. President Barack Obama was originally supposed to attend both the Los Angeles and San Francisco fundraisers but couldn't because of the shutdown.

Government transport is limited during the shutdown as is privately funded travel. For now, Michelle will have to stay put and help Obama get through the shutdown. The Democrats are likely not happy about the delay of their fundraisers, as the proceeds would be used to help them keep Senate majority and regain control of the House in the 2014 mid-term elections.

The Hill, 10/10/2013 (for some reason the DR keeps rejecting the hyperlink)

According to CNN three hours ago, Trump is not attending the fundraiser due to the shutdown.

Same ----, different day.

I heard last night that he wasn't going to go. Poor Donnie. No golf and no chocolate cake with his billionaire buddies this weekend. Being president is hard work!

Trump's is raising money for himself, not for the greater good of the country. Why do you equate the two?

But selling access to a sec of state is just fine with you.

"Same ----, different day."

No, back then Trump blamed the President.

And my retort was to the claim Obama had weaponized the shutdown. Have any links for that?

Trump's is raising money for himself, not for the greater good of the country. Why do you equate the two?

Because that is exactly what the Obama's did, raised money for the DNC and to repay funds for his re-election. Trump is raising for his campaign and splitting it with the RNC.

I know you are smarter than that, don't be deliberately obtuse.

Link to legit reporting on that Sniper?

Trump's quid quo pro is not in question. It is advertised as a salable commodity.

Please provide anything legit which substantiates your assertion.
