Republicans can defend this basket-case presidency all they please, but in doing so they reveal themselves to be either dense, dishonest or demagogic. The GOP and Trump are indeed one and the same.

We shouldn't rack our brains too hard trying to figure out if he is intellectually dense, suffering memory lapses or contemptuous of the law and his oath to defend the Constitution. It almost does not matter at this point. What matters is that he cannot do his job, cannot uphold his oath to defend our Constitution. Whether he has always been this way or has cracked under pressure, whether he's lying or forgetful or unable to separate his desires from the legitimate powers he is granted (essentially, he's a living, breathing example of authoritarianism) is not really our concern. The result is the same -- a president unfit to perform the job and incapable of realizing there's even a problem.

The GOP IS Trump... which is why so many of them are choosing not to be slaughtered at the election booth in the mid-terms this year.

Indeed, CORKY. It's the old rats-on-a-sinking-ship routine. They created this disgrace, so screw ‘em.

The real scandal for the Republican Party is the Lying Liars who were in the Oval Office when the --- hole talk went down, and and who answered "I don't recall" when asked if Trump said it.

Really, Senator Cotton, you don't Recall?

The meeting had only been the day before the specious denial. Not recalling the POTUS calling other countries --- Holes in an Oval Office Official meeting on the previous day, seems like a highly unlikely event to forget; seems like it would be an event which would be quite memorable for much longer that 24 hours. But you, Senator Cotton, you don't recall?

Really? Don't recall?

That is a big obvious lie.

You recall very well.

Lindsey Graham recalled. Dick Durbin recalled. The meeting had been less that 24 hours from the question. You do remember them both being there, right Senator Cotton? Are you demented like Trump? Seriously, you cant remember one of the most despicable impolitic statements ever uttered in an oval office bipartisan sit-down with the POTUS, and you cant recall the event?

You are a liar Sen. Cotton.

Cotton is too cowardly to admit the truth, to stupid to just say "no comment", and too crooked to choose to do anything but toss out a cheap, unbelievable lie to the public, just like Trump does on a near hourly basis.

This "I dont recall" really makes Jeff Sessions "I don't recall meeting all those Russians" answer appear more likely to be a bald faced lie too, doesn't it? This casual, blatant, obvious lie, based on the old Republican chestnut "I dont recall" canard, is obviously phony; Transparently false. Cotton's "I don't recall" lie cheapens that response from a politician as a legit, believable answer.

The Trumpification of the Republican Party seems now to becomplete.

Trump serial lying POTUS is the Republican Party, and the lying Republican Party is the Party of Donald Trump. Liars all.

You can daydream about impeachment or 25th amendment all you want to, but as long as Trump has an 80% approval rating among Rs none of it is going to happen. The article left out a forth and most likely possibility, Trump knows what he says if BS but he says it to fire up the base. And it works.

The republicans were Trump before Trump was republican.
