Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

To add another championship to the greatest dynasty college football has ever seen, Alabama turned to its quarterback of the future, and Tua Tagovailoa proved that his time is now. The freshman quarterback, who had played mostly mop-up duty this season, came off the bench to spark a comeback and threw a 41-yard touchdown to DeVonta Smith that gave No. 4 Alabama a 26-23 overtime victory against No. 3 Georgia on Monday night for the College Football Playoff national championship. ... Saban now has six major poll national championships, including one at LSU, matching the record set by the man who led Alabama's last dynasty, coach Paul Bear Bryant.

"pounding the piss out of"

Go sleep it off and get your money ready to dole out. You're a Democrat. It should be easy.

Good job SEC for finally finding out who the best is in your conference. Auburn should be proud.

The Pro-bama bad calls turned the game IMHO...

5 of the officials were named Saban or married to one.

I thought 2 plays turned the game. The biggest IMO was on 3rd and long it looked like 'Bama's freshman QB was about to be sacked, but he made an amazing play, got a first down and 'Bama scored a TD on that drive. Up to that point Georgia had them completely on their heels. The second was the Georgia interception. After they answered 'Bama's TD drive with one of their own and then forced an int giving them the ball at midfield, they had an opportunity to put a dagger into 'Bama. Instead, they turned the ball right back over giving momentum back. Those 2 plays were huge shifts in momentum in that game.

The SEC divides SEC money up evenly among all the SEC teams. They will be very proud to get that 25 million dollar check. Had they went to the playoffs and clemson beat them again, they may only get half that much.

However, it will only partially salve their butt-hurt that they beat both NC teams.

I also thought that interception would end Bama. Then, when Bama's kicker missed the game-winning field goal, I was seriously thinking about running out into the middle of a busy interstate.

LOL. People never notice when calls are missed against Bama. It happens every single game. I see offensive lineman tackling our defensive line and no one calls it. There could have been 20 holding calls against Georgia last night. That's okay, it probably prevents a homicide. I say, 'let 'em play the game'.

I thought the Ga. guy covering Calvin ridley was gonna propose to him, they were so handsey and intimate.

What about the blatant face mask call?

The blocked punt was called off-sides was another.

Bad calls and bad no-calls are part of the game.

Michigan got hosed by the refs against OSU last year, but it's not why they lost the game. Same thing here. The calls may have favored Alabama, but it's not why they won.

There were some terrible calls that benefited Bama last night. But man, mostly what I noticed is how dumb most SEC players are (how do you not give safety help to the guy covering Bama's best receiver on 2nd and very long? Why are you covering the middle of the field, where absolutely no one is and nothing is happening?), and how bad their quarterbacks are at throwing the ball.

Awesome defense, men-amongst-boys athletes, but the skill at the QB position is no beuno. (Yes, I know two of the three were freshmen. But what does that say about the upper classmen players above them? They are even worse.)

Does God wear zebra stripes?

Punt block with a phantom offsides.
Blatant facemask on a third down run.
Blatant punch to the back of QB's head after play is over.
All called in favor of Alabama.

I can go on.

"Does God wear zebra stripes?"

Well, of course God made them do it. They had no choice.

It was His Will.

Praise Jebus!

Sweet home Alabama
Oh sweet home baby
Where the skies are so blue
And the governor's true
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Yea, yea

Banner year for Bama.

We got Jeff Sessions to leave the state. We kicked the --------- philandering governor out of office. We got an actual sensible, moderate republican woman for governor. We kicked Roy Moore out of politics forever. We won the national championship.

I'm happier than a pig in slop.

Yeah, but you still have to live in Alabama.

#18 - I wasn't counting that, but you are right, it is a huge advantage.

I'm trying not to rub your faces in your own shot.
