Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, January 08, 2018

Honestly, the tweets, the comments -- they all could have been fun little jokes. But it's no longer all that far-fetched to think that someone known primarily for their work on TV and with absolutely no governing experience could not only run for president but also win. And connecting an uber-popular name like "Oprah" with "presidential campaign" is naturally going to generate loads of excitement. (Also, let's not forget the speculation about "The Rock 2020″). For most of her time as a daytime talk show host, Winfrey avoided bringing politicians on for interviews.

I'm just guessing that libby's might be surprised about how she would rule. Her public rhetoric is one thing. But were she elected (or even to run), you might be surprised.

But hey, we already know that she loves giving away free things so she's the perfect dem candidate. Maybe she'll start with a free car for everyone.

They may never successfully run a white candidate again.

They eat their own. Ask Bernie.
And please, saying, 'racist!' every time someone types or says black or white doesn't advance discussion.

It makes complete sense until we return to our normal alternate timeline where Trump isn't President.

Please, God, no.

Although given how brain dead average Americans have become through their insatiable obsession with TVs/phones/tablets I'd be genuinely surprised if we ever returned to a time where government experience and expertise mattered more than celebrity appeal and name recognition.

And also I dont care what the budget says. I want a 1.5 trillion dem tax boondoggle.

No more saving them. I say join them.

Roseanne Barr: "I'd Be a Better President" Than Oprah, Susan Sarandon, Trump

John Goodman for VP!

Even if Rosanne or Oprah became President, Trump would still hold the record for largest bra size of any President.

Oprah is not the Oracle from the first Matrix movie.

She is uplifting, inspiring and thoughtful. Her brand of charm is a breath of fresh air in a cynical atmosphere.

But she has something in common with Trump. Neither one is qualified to lead the armed forces and this country.

Inspiring speeches, (much like fiery rhetoric) does not make a good leader. Otherwise Brave Heart would be on the ballet every cycle.

"But she has something in common with Trump. Neither one is qualified to lead the armed forces and this country."

Which President since Eisenhower was actually qualified to lead the armed forces? Presidents don't need military experience but they need to know how to choose who they listen to.

Danni: Kennedy, Carter and both Bushes served in the military. Kennedy and Bush Sr. actually saw combat and I think they were better leaders for it.

I'm sure a lot of people would vote for Oprah without hesitation. But assuming she actually runs, once she starts having to take a position on a variety of political issues, the rose might actually start to wilt. With her money, there is no way I would subject myself to a presidential campaign with all the media hoopla, death threats, attacks by political rivals, etc. She is much better at running a huge corporation and raking in the dough.

She may do a good job but she would not survive outside the bubble she lives in.
Issues don't seem to matter so both have that going for them.

Hillary would latch onto Oprah like a deer tick.

I never said you had to serve in the armed forces to be president.

I never met Oprah. However, i think its safe to say she's had little use for issues like international, military and constitutional law in her career as a local news anchor, actor and entertainer.

Imo she best serves her country outside of politics. Making people feel warm and fuzzy is a great quality but not crucial to the presidency. It's strange, in lew of true leadership we look to our entertainers for guidance. The DNC and the voting public will find a way to let us all down again.

Oprah for president! Can we all just sober up please?

It is easy to endorse a candidate who has not announced a single policy. Remember she is a very nice talk show host, and she is also a very demanding employer and a ruthless business woman. She doesn't back loosers or suffer fools outside her interview couch.

#21 You might as well be talking about Trump, who you love, and voted for.

Well, there is one important difference between Trump and Winfrey. Trump was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Oprah is a self made billionaire. Remind me why you like Trump more than the person who actually succeeded on their own hard work and merits?

"She doesn't back loosers or suffer fools outside her interview couch."

That would certainly be an improvement over the current situation.

Maybe I read you wrong, Doc.
Are you on the Oprah Train, for real!?

#24 | Posted by snoofy at 2018-01-10 01:17 PM | Reply

If new-age nitwit Oprah is the answer, the Dems have an even weaker bench then previously thought.
