Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, January 06, 2018

During his presidential campaign, Donald Trump promised he'd be the "greatest jobs president God ever created." And as his administration has become increasingly embroiled in scandal during the first year of his presidency, Trump has routinely fallen back on bragging about the allegedly unbelievable job creation he's overseen. But there's just one problem -- according to the latest jobs data, 2017 saw the most anemic job growth in America since Obama's first term, when the economy was pulling out of the Great Recession he inherited from George W. Bush. According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the 2.06 million jobs created last year were actually the fewest in a year since 2011.

To be fair, if you claim Trump isn't responsible for the stock market, consumer confidence and other favorable economic indicators you can't really say this is on him.

If the 2017 economy was due to Obama's policies then this is too.

One year's gotta be worst for job growth.
Next year, when it goes negative, we can blame that on Trump.

1 Feb 2018, it become his economy.

IMHO, then he has been in office for 1 year. And he did not have an "immediate financial emergency" to tend once in office as his predecessor.

The economy is roaring and a number of Trump policies can easily be pointed to as contributors. He's a POS of a human being but when he does something right I'll give credit.

Agreed. Except PeeTUS had the chance to change policies and he didn't. He's responsible in part too.

Hold on just a second. Do you mean to tell me that after a recession, when companies are hiring again and things are moving, more jobs are created and then during times of low unemployment and good growth, that job generation stagnates? Oh. My. God. Who could have ever seen that coming???

Luckily we live in the post-Obama America now where every bad thing that happens during a President's first term can be blamed on the prior POTUS and every good thing can be attributed to the current administration. I know Dems will be all "but...but...racism!" but for those with intelligence we can easily attribute this to Obama. The bad part for Reps is that this is occurring BECAUSE of Obama doing a good job. So, yeah...it's a negative (if you only read the headline and don't actually understand why it is predictable) that can be blamed on Obama but only because Obama did a good job to make sure this situation would occur (because it should in any strong economy).
