Orrin Hatch, currently the second-longest serving U.S. senator, plans to retire at the end of his term. In a video shared on Twitter, the 83-year-old Utah Republican announced his plan to leave the Senate early next year after more than 40 years. ... Former Massachusetts Gov. and GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney was considering running for Hatch's seat if the senator retired, according to reports. Romney has strongly criticized Trump and could prove another irritant to the president if elected.

One more heartless, United States-hating, geriatric, Koch-humping, moron out, many more to go.

Hopefully the confederate mcconnell is next.

Get your popcorn, this could be very entertaining as Mittens could win this seat pretty handily.

So, Orrin "I vote with what Trump wants 100% of the time" Hatch will be replaced by Mitt "I'll vote with what Trump wants 100% of the time" Romney.

That'll show 'em! /snark

I don't think that Mittens much cares for Trump:

[Romney] blasted Trump during the 2016 campaign, delivering a speech calling him "a phony, a fraud." Romney went on to say, "He's playing the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat."

Romney's relationship with Trump thawed briefly when Romney was under consideration to be secretary of state, but he has continued publicly criticizing the president since he took office.

After the violence around a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., last summer when the president said there were good people "on both sides," Romney wrote a lengthy Facebook post in which he said, "Whether he intended to or not, what he communicated caused racists to rejoice, minorities to weep, and the vast heart of America to mourn."

Romney turns 70 this year so he would only have a couple of terms he could serve, but the Mormons loves them some Mittens.

Trump begged Orrin Hatch to run again. The senator retired anyway.

The guy just turned 83, he may be a fighter but probably couldn't take 2-6 more years of Trump's BS.

If Hatch is replaced who does that put fourth in line for the Presidency?

We are the only Government in the world which harbors people who believe Joseph Smith translated "golden plates", never seen a credible human being into the "Book of Mormon", an alleged history which includes another visitation by Jesus to the New World. Smith also pretended to translate "The Pearl of Great Price" from a genuine Egyptian papyrus scroll, which was recovered decades later after the Egyptian language was cracked and proven to be a fake translation.

No matter how annoying we may find a religion hating it while trying to get said religion's practitioners to elect somebody reasonable is almost always dumber than the religion itself.

" Romney has strongly criticized Trump and could prove another irritant to the president if elected."

No he won't. They might try to out-weasel each other but Romney is known for sucking any appendage or kissing any orifice that puts money in his pocket.

If he tells you he's for the "working man" let me remind everybody of BAIN CAPITAL and their ruthless raping of businesses big and small under the guise of restructuring consultants. They drove many of their "clients" into bankruptcy by taking out huge loans against assets that were later sold off ~ all the while taking huge amounts of compensation OFF THE TOP for themselves. They raided pension plans and laid off employees just days away from retirement. In some cases they destroyed the economy of whole towns. And it was all done without an ounce of empathy or even a twinge of conscience.

Then there's his 47% admission (secretly recorded at a $50,000 plate fund raiser). No, Romney is a corporate whore with the best of them.

So don't get too high on this guy before you refresh your memory of what he really is.

For openers, he's the guy who hired Bush's dirty trickster (Karl Rove) as his campaign manager, who got CAUGHT trying to redirect votes in Ohio for a Romney win. How can we forget Rove's live TV meltdown on election night when the real and true results came in for Obama. THAT was a sight that will live in infamy.

Romney and Trump are both weasels. They understand each other perfectly.

I had to laugh when I read the headline. "Romney May Run"

I don't believe an 8-horse hitch of Budweiser Clydsdales could stop him.

How do we know Romney will be terrible? Because you said he will be fantastic. Based on how wrong you have been about Trump, there is no reason anyone, including yourself, should trust your judgement.

Seems as plausible as many of the right wing accusations against Hillary.

A key difference between Romney and Hatch is that Hatch is totally on board with Trump's agenda, which had little to nothing to do with his fake populist campaign. Together hey have launched an unprecedented class war Ryan and McConnell have long dreamed of. Romney may be a class warrior too, but he can't stand Trump and he has made that clear over and over again. Will he eat crow under these circumstances?

Oh, I got it. You're accepting Anonymous' unverified claims that they caught him. I thought you had a reasonable source for your allegation. Carry on.

This is only slightly less plausible than Anonymous' claim that NASA made contact with aliens last year.

AVIGDORE

I accept your criticism. But only because I cannot prove or disprove the allegation. Annonymous was a known entity who had a history of hacking into sensitive systems just to prove they could. It was knowing Rove's history and his own apolectic reaction to the election results and exprssion of shock and disbelief that convinced me the Annonymous claim was probably true.

But the subject here is my opinion of Mitt Romney whom I still consider a weasel ~ not just for hiring another weasel to run his campaign (as in bird of a feather, etc.) but also for his business practices at Bain Capital. Leaving a wake of devestation and broken lives doesn't gel with a Senator's job description. And I will continue to point that out whenever I can.

RIGHT @ 26

I hadn't heard that one.

I hope they've all graduated from college and are gainfully employed. If they did what they claimed to do, they did the country a great service.

Romney is probably going to try to force a primary shot against Trump in 2020.

All he really has to do is be a vocal thorn in Trumps side and vote against everything he does and Trump will do the rest. Depending on who the democrats pick, he could get a lot of support from both sides.
