Life & Style: From the moment President Donald Trump gave Omarosa Manigault Newman a job in his administration last January, she treated 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue like her own playground. ... Insiders estimate Omarosa's juicy tell-all book about Donald, 71, wife Melania, 47, and Omarosa's time in the White House could command as much as $10 million. And it could be devastating to Donald and Melania's marriage: Sources close to Omarosa, 43, tell In Touch that they believe Omarosa intends to betray her former boss and his wife by spilling dark secrets about their marriage.

I heard that she spent a lot of time under the Resolute Desk looking for something. I am not saying that but people on the Internets are saying she spent and awful lot of time under there "looking for something very small". That's what they are saying. But, what do I know? I only know what I see on the Internets!

Chief Justice Boaz will fix that in short order.

Trump will simply deny it and his brain-dead followers will nod and say, yeah! What he said! Even if there's video, signed affidavits and a judge's order.

I'll be surprised if there's anything not dark about that "relationship".

Trump could admit to it and they still wouldn't believe it.

NDA is for wives and ex-wives. The name is self-explanatory.

The Melania/Trump marriage contract would be far more interesting. Not to mention fodder for a titillating DR thread so we can point our fingers and laugh at why Donald has to pay a woman to marry him.

In any case this kind of tabloid type stuff is garbage.

It won't be a shock that their marriage is loveless and borne of selfish motives and/or convenience.

It also won't be a shock if it's revealed that neither are faithful or that both have engaged in inappropriate behavior.

Unless it's directly related to his performance (or non-performance) in office it's trash that isn't worth reporting on.

It's called piling on and it goes to character ~ which is business as usual around here.

But I agree. Omarosa's motives have to be viewed as suspicious.

I've been around more than long enough to know business as usual around here.

Won't stop me from calling it for what it is and pointing out the obvious (one would hope) cons to going down that easy road.

The most scandalous thing that will come of this is that Trump, who is an old man, doesn't cheat on Melania because he's an old man. He also sleeps alone because he hates disappointing her. Until her firing I had actually never heard of Omarosa but if she does write a scandalous tell all book about the first family I hope that it is ignored. Her entire "celebrity" status is due to Trump, she should enjoy the benefits to her life that provided but not bite the hand that gave her a better life.

Biting hands is an integral facet of Trumpism, famously practiced by Trump himself.

#22 | Posted by Zed at 2017-12-29 09:42 AM | Reply

Omarosa's motives have to be viewed as suspicious.

Of course. But this is what happens when you put an unqualified reality TV star into one of the highest-paid positions in the White House. You get reality TV values.

The people around Trump who allowed him to hire her are as foolish as he is.

P.s. Omarosa isn't the only unqualified reality TV star in that building.

Republicans will not do anything about it, unlike Clinton.

I basically agree with you that this stuff is garbage. HOWEVER... sexual indiscretions can be relevant in certain situations. If the president can be blackmailed or otherwise compromised by embarrassing information, it could have a bearing on decisions he makes.

Same thing with our top military people, Secret Service agents, judges and so on. You don't want them making important decisions designed to either hide or compensate for risky activities. I think the real problem with Bill Clinton was not Monica Lewinsky per se, it was the risk that his decisions as president were affected by the Lewinsky affair. And remember, he was impeached for lying (although I remain skeptical about the true motives), not for having an affair.

Not everyone is as concerned. The French, for example, seem to have a different view about affairs and their impact on key office-holders. But then, the French have always been less sexually repressed.

Conservatives run and win on the idea that they are the sole decision makers and protectors of what is moral.

They have decided this. Not us.

They then use that moral platform to attack any challenges to their authority.

So, if they claim to be something, then we should ask if they really are that thing.

Damned good point. Although, of course, even people who voted for him knew from the outset that Trump had no morals -- only that he was willing to enact laws that brought back the, uh, good old days. The fact that his motivations fall into two categories -- self-enrichment or infliction of cruelty upon people he dislikes (or both) -- never has been of much concern to the true Trumpsters.

And, strangely enough, Trump's hourly lapses in judgment seem to have done nothing to prevent the family-values crowd from pretending he's their guy. Kinda like the deficit - morals are only a big deal if a Democrat is in the White House.

"Omarosa's time in the White House could command as much as $10 million. And it could be devastating to Donald and Melania's marriage."

#1 unless Omarose has some insider information about Russia she's useless.

#2 the only thing that could devastate his marriage to Melania is if Trump turned off the money spigot.

Otherwise, it's just fodder for the tabloids which Trump would just call lies. Nobody likes a vicious female. Omarosa could end up the villian in this whole thing and she'll have a hard time finding another job. She'd be ostercized from the very social circles in which she likes to travel. Conversations would stop when she walks by.

In case nobody has noticed, Mueller hasn't hauled her in for an interview. She must be really miffed about that.

That's why I don't see this book as a big deal.

You might as well be reading about why water is wet.
