"Socialism's star country"

Israel?

Almost as strange as the "rights" adoration for Israel while simultaneously saying the Jews are ruining America

"Chavez brought forward the historic liberation of Latin America, which has proven destructive to the rich oligarchy."

"Any claim that Chávez had suppressed press freedom is a bit of a joke"

-Norm Chomsky

"Chavez did incredible things for the 80% of the people that are very poor there."

"Venezuela and its revolution will endure under the proven leadership of vice president Nicolas Maduro"

-Sean Penn

"There is no evidence that Venezuela poses a threat to the United States, Chávez should be praised for his focus on foreign debt, debt relief, and free and fair trade to overcome years of structural disorder, unnecessary military spending, [and] land reform."

"Hugo fed the hungry. He lifted the poor. He raised their hopes. He helped them realize their dreams. And, so, today we do mourn, because we've lost a lot. But we have a lot left – a stable government, an orderly transition,"

-Jesse Jackson

""Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez appears to have had success in bringing health and education to the people in the poor neighbourhoods of Caracas."

"It is not only important to have sustainable growth, but to ensure the best distribution of economic growth, for the benefit of all citizens."

-Joseph Stiglitz (Hillary Clinton's economic and trade advisor, 2016)

You really are clueless ain't you Boaz??? They have heavy and extra heavy crude oil which is harder to extract and to refine. If you understood anything of value I think I'd keel over dead.

Laura,

Laura, who cares "how heavy" the oil is? What's that got to do with the tea in China? Just admit it. Socialism is a failure where ever it's tried. And Venezuela is just the latest attempt.

#4 | POSTED BY LAURAMOHR

If so it was kinda stupid to kick out the companies that could extract and refine it.

Without cash, PDVSA is struggling to obtain the proper chemicals to treat its oil, or pay for equipment and upkeep to maintain quality.

Output is falling, cash is drying up and oil workers have fled the country because of food shortages and violence.

"Socialism is a failure where ever it's tried."

Aren't you receiving a check from the military? The largest and most funded socialist program in the world?

And you aren't using our socialist roads again are you? That includes our socialist bridges. I believe I have spoken to you about this already.

And don't even think about drawing that socialist security check either. You will surely burn in hell brother!

Also, stay away for them socialist libraries. They are evil incarnate! Make the sign of the cross if you ever pass one just in case.

And don't EVER let your house burn down or you will have them damn socialists all over the place squirting socialist water all over everything!

And make sure you close your eyes when near them socialist street lights or you might go blind!

And finally, do be careful near them socialist city parks. Again, make the sign of the cross if near one just in case to keep the socialist demons away.

Yeah, those social democracies in northern Europe are really on the ropes, rofl!

Well, except for their people rating them the best places to live anywhere.

Aren't you receiving a check from the military?

Oh, you mean the compensation from the contract I had from WORKING for the Government?

Oh, you mean the service I gave to the country, the one only 1% of the nation even has the balls to do?

And by the way, all that in #14, I PAID taxes for that from my EARNINGS.

I believe I have spoken to you about this already.

And I've spoken to you about this as well. But you choose to make up your own definitions to try and validate your point. You were wrong then and you are wrong now. I guess you just want to remain uneducated.

"Oh, you mean the compensation from the contract I had from WORKING for the Government?"

It is not about you dummy. It is about the socialist military. I can't believe you hung out with those socialists all that time.

But you choose to make up your own definitions to try and validate your point. You were wrong then and you are wrong now. I guess you just want to remain uneducated.

Oh, you mean the compensation from the contract I had from WORKING for the Government?

Yet something tells me Boaz would have no problem with companies or the government breaking union contracts.

I wonder what his position on teacher's pension is?

#17 13.4% of US males have sucked on the military ---. Not 1%.
The bloated US military is why the US has floundered while China has leap forward.
We are less safe and poorer as a result.

Don't be sexist, Bored. It is [current year], there is no need to segregate by gender.

7.3 percent of all living Americans have served in the military at some point in their lives.
Branch breakdown: 3.1 percent of all living Americans have served in the Army, 1.7 percent in the Navy, 1.4 percent in the Air Force and 0.8 percent in the Marines, while the remaining 0.5 percent served in either non-defense or reserve roles.

Notable small statistic:
0.4 percent of the American population is active military personnel.

So, let's discuss. What really is killing the Venezuelan economy?

1. Fracking in the U.S. which did propel us to be the largest oil producer in the world.
2. Natural gas, again America is a huge supplier and it can and does replace oil for many uses.
3. And this is a big one: Alternative Energy sources. That ain't ever going away.
4. The inability of folks like the Kochs to engineer an oil economy worldwide, many nations are moving away from it regardless of anything they can do about it.
5. Socialism? Maybe but providing education and healthcare to your citizens should be the reason you even have an economy, the Venezuelan economy was failing long before Chavez because it was not providing the basic necessities to the majority of the people.

There are thousands of Venezuelans now in S. Florida who hate Chavez with a passion but have no compassion for the people of their own nation who lived in dire poverty while all the oil wealth flowed to the minority, European descendants. Venezuela is in a class war and the U.S. stands firmly on the side of the former rulers who took all the wealth. We should support Venezuelan people, all of them including the indigenous peoples. Venezuela is the result of colonialism. When we finally understand that we might be of assistance to that poor nation.

But, YOU don't own any of those things we all share them.

All those things are planned, built, and maintained by local, state, and federal governments which they "own" as well.

It is socialism of the classical form, pure and simple.

So we have a closet Socialist right here in our midst!

It always seems to be the ones who protest the loudest.

Actually their oil production was dropping even prior to price drop as once they nationalized the oilfields there they were unable to keep up the same level of priduction as the oil companies which developed the fields. Once again, governments rarely can do anything as effectively as private industry.
