When President Donald Trump was sworn in, steelworkers around the country expressed hope. Here was a candidate vowing to strengthen infrastructure, bring back jobs, revive industry and protect factories from cheap imports. But one year later, these policies have not materialized and steel plants are feeling the effects and laying off huge swaths of workers. ArcelorMittal, which owns a Pennsylvania mill, announced plans in September to lay off 150 of their 207 employees in 2018, according to the New York Times. Scott Paul, president of the Alliance Alliance for American Manufacturing, a group that represents steelworkers, told the Times that he had "a profound sense of frustration that the president has been using steelworkers as political props." He added, "The president's own words and lack of action have actually put the industry in a worse position than if he had done nothing at all."

President has signaled he doesn't care for infrastructure plans any more. Besides, he gets his steel from China.

I'll say it again for the 50th time, a VAT will fix this. The politicians know it but they don't want to fix this. Therein lies the problem. Citizens United, Corporate Personhood, those are the problems, fix them and you will fix America. Oh, BTW, you'll probably need to impeach a couple members of the SC to do it but after that it will be clear sailing. Sooner the better. My suggestions for impeachment, Thomas and Gorsuch.

We spend twenty times more than anyone else in the world on our military, without even counting the CIA, Homeland Security or the Nuclear Weapons program.

NO country can actually engage in a major war against a powerful opponent without a strong steel industry. Without steel and oil they will surely lose. Rummy actually had China build six destroyers. Does anyone think it would be safe to use them against China?

The short sighted thinking of American leadership is mind boggling. We won WWII by being the world's largest industrial powerhouse, a position now enjoyed by China and Japan. Poor planning folks.

"a profound sense of frustration that the president has been using steelworkers as political props."

What else would you expect from a lying POS?
