Rubber and plastic bullets should not be used for crowd control, researchers have said, pointing out that such weapons are often inaccurate and can cause death, disabilities or severe injuries. Bullets made of plastic, rubber, or other materials such as metal shot in a fabric bag, are used as a "less lethal" means of crowd control the world over, from the US to India. While they can leave a gun with velocities similar to live ammunition, they are designed to lose speed rapidly, reducing the force of impact. Generally, users are supposed to aim the weapons at individuals' lower limbs.

The team note that a wide hunt for studies was necessary, since neither police and military records on deaths and injuries from "non-lethal" bullets may not be complete, or accessible, while "manufacturers are not required to keep records on injuries from their products in development, field trials or actual use." ...

Rubber bullets were replaced by plastic bullets in the UK in the 1970s, and these have since been replaced with AEPs.

A Home Office spokesperson said AEP [vaton] rounds are not designed to be used for crowd control, but are instead intended to be fired to tackle a violent or potentially violent person.

Dangerous for crowds? Good thing for his supporters; there has never been a crowd at a trump rally.

Personally, I am a proponent of water cannons for riot control.

Would anyone suggest an alternative? I guess the cops will have to go back to batons and tear gas. If a rubber bullet is dangerous, so is getting hit in the head with a bat. Cops usually disperse crowds after violence has erupted, not before. Besides, cops get injured in riots too. they prefer to have a little stand off distance so they don't get close enough to rioters to get assaulted. I always though it was a little stupid to provoke an individual with a gun, but that seems to be a mindset prevalent with the alt-left.

I suggest everyone who goes to a protest carry their 2nd Amendment authorized gun. And if anyone shoots anything at them they stand their ground and defend themselves appropriately.

Because Freedom!

Personally, I am a proponent of trained police K9's for riot control.

It was the method of choice during the 60s.

Many was the time protesters would have a "sit-in" and sang "We shall overcome".

Police would pull up in K units and stand around drinking coffee and donuts while the dogs had their fun.

These new hi-tek toys just take the joy out of modern police work.

Yeah, we all understand that standing up for what's right is an alien concept to you.

Nothing like the glint of cold still and the thundering beat of the cossaks' horses' hooves to keep the hoipoli in line.
