Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, December 14, 2017

House Speaker Paul Ryan has had soul searching conversations about his future with friends, some of his close friends tell CNN. Those people close to Ryan told CNN they believe it is possible that he could leave Congress after the 2018 midterm elections, if he can achieve his goal of passing GOP backed overhaul of the US tax system. Some say his departure could possibly happen even sooner. ... "This is pure speculation," Ryan spokeswoman AshLee Strong said in a statement. "As the speaker himself said today, he's not going anywhere any time soon."

Paul Ryan might leave Congress? Oh, the horror! How will effective, cutting edge legislation ever get enacted without him? Good thing Darryl Issa and Louis Gohmert won't be going anywhere.

He sees the writing on the wall, which goes something like this: You have been weighed in the balance and found wanting.

The proposal that Paul Ryan actually has friends is speculation too.

Paul Ryan having friends smells of Fake News!

If he can only f**k over us working class folks he will feel that his life is successful. I really don't understand how the brains of folks like him are wired. What a big piece of crap.

Ryan gave his benefactors what they wanted. Now it may be time to cash in.

There could be several reasons for Ryan's speculations.

The 2018 tsunami is the most likely.

Or, he knows that Trump's plan to turn America into a dictatorship is headed for disaster and all the torches and pitchforks will be aimed at him.

Can't say that I blame him. Self-preservation (and survival) is always a politician's top priority under any circumstances.

After his tax gift to his benefactors he doesn't want to face his constituency and lose the next election. Instead he'll hit the lecture circuit and rake in plenty to put his kids through college. Then he hopes to return to the Senate or run for President in 2024. For either path, its best to disassociate from Trump.

Ryan's intelligence and academic credentials are an illusion created by the mass media in service to the 1%.

If true then at least he knows when to step aside, instead of vainly hanging on to the minoriity leadership in hopes he can ride the next wave back to the top. In some ways this mirrors the Franken resignation, as a preemptive poltical move to make the other party look bad.

Yeah, wait until they find out how badly they've been screwed by their "representative." They'll be building him a political funeral pyre.

I meant to tag that Newsworthy, not Funny, but whatever.

Yeah, like Mitch McConnell and so many others, complaining about people who spend their lives feeding from the public trough -- while spending their lives feeding from the public trough.
