Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

What will Trump's reaction be when he figures out he's been duped -- and that the Mueller probe, far from a "nothing burger," is a carafe of strychnine that poses an existential threat to his presidency? The likely result is that Trump will either pardon everyone involved or try to fire the special counsel, or both. And then the nation will be plunged into a constitutional crisis the likes of which we have not seen since Watergate. And the Republican Party is ready to serve as an accomplice to obstruction of justice.

If you take seriously such accusations [as those made by the Trumpkins], you would have to conclude that only Republicans are allowed to investigate a Republican president -- and not just ordinary, apolitical Republicans like Mueller but very partisan Republicans. Does that mean, therefore, that only Democrats can investigate Democratic presidents? Hardly! After all, most of Trump's defenders were also defenders of Kenneth W. Starr, an active Republican who was appointed to probe Bill Clinton in 1994 after an earlier independent prosecutor, Republican Robert B. Fiske Jr., was judged to be insufficiently zealous. So apparently the rule is that Democrats are simply not allowed to be prosecutors. Or only Democratic presidents should be investigated. Or something.

Less willing after Virginia and now Alabama, I think. Maybe not willing at all after 2018, and/or out of power so what they think doesn't matter any more.

"After years of Comey, with the phony and dishonest Clinton investigation (and more), running the FBI, its reputation is in Tatters – worst in History!"

Trump is certainly old enough to remember J. Edgar Hoover so his comment is basically just a lie. He definitely knows better. That's not a mistake, or a mistatement, it's just a flat out lie but, of course, we are used to him lying all the damn time by now. I honestly believe him to be more dishonest and more treasonous than Nixon or Reagan. And they were both despicable.

Trumpians still will not acknowledge that their boy is toxic and is bringing the whole GOP down.

Rumors are the WH, GOP and conservative media are laying the groundwork to push Mueller out over the holidays. If they do, we need to act:

As the nation speculates whether or not Special Counsel Robert Mueller will be fired, activists across the country are gearing up for a nationwide response.

Abe Lincoln: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Speaking of Lincoln:

James Comey @Comey

"Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. ... Most people can bear adversity; but if you wish to know what a man really is give him power. " Robert G. Ingersoll (1883, speaking of Lincoln)

GAL

Michelle Obama said something similar. She said "Being President doesn't change who you are. It reveals who you are."

I honestly don't care who carries out the investigation. As long as no 'proof' is fabricated, then any bias in the investigation should be acknowledged by the House/Senate during any impeachment investigation. The problem becomes when someone with a biased or slanted perspective views evidence in one way, and reports are made to the public that this view is 'the truth', then if the House, which may have a different view of the 'spin' of that evidence, rules differently on impeachment, then the some members of the public will become up-in-arms over the perceived injustice. That is the real reason that an impartial investigation is preferred.

Sorry that sentence had to be convoluted as hell to remain true whether the investigator is pro or anti Trump.

How do you explain all the 'anti Trump' people doing the investigation of him? Seems just a little strange to me.

Most US voters are anti Trump. Moreso in big cities where FBI agents live.

Would you want Hillary investigators to be pro Hillary?

Investigators should not be friendly to their suspects. They will have defense attorneys to provide their spin on the facts.
