Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A Tennessee woman's video of her son recounting being bullied at middle school has prompted a wave of support from athletes and entertainers. Kimberly Jones said in a Facebook post she had just picked up her son, Keaton, from school because he was too afraid to go to lunch. In the video, Keaton said other students call him ugly, make fun of his nose and tell him he has no friends. He said milk was poured on him and ham was put down his clothes. "Just out of curiosity, why do they bully?" Keaton said. "What's the point of it? Why do they find joy in taking innocent people and find a way to be mean to them? It's not OK. People that are different don't need to be criticized about it. It's not their fault. If you are made fun of, just don't let it bother you." The video had more than 22 million views by early Monday.

Maybe people should look into his unsavory mother first before giving this kid such sympathies.

Why? what would the kid be guilty of based on his mother's actions?

Don't get me wrong, f@#$@#k her and all the lost causers, but kids don't pick their parents. All the crap this kid may or may not deal with might be entirely due to his mom being trash. That's still not his fault. It's hers.

"Upon what are you basing assumption?"

....stories have also come up that suggest he wasn't so much as bullied, as much as his classmates were trying to get him to stop using racist slurs, including the n-word.

Faith in humanity un-restored.

Maybe the value in all of this is that at least people are talking about bullying. Maybe the kid -- and the rest of us -- will actually learn something. His mother sounds like a lost cause.

Look I feel for the kid buuuut after seeing all that stuff on his mom, who's to say he didn't get bullied for repeating what he heard at home? THAT is how despite not picking their parents they can suffer BECAUSE of their parents. Remember education starts at home...

I am not a hug a Nazi type. I am from a family that has had to combat white supremacist violence in our past. We have suffered casualties at the hands of these people. Thusly, I was raised to and am prepared to respond to white supremacist violence with force as needed. But kids are kids man. I have coached kids from trash families like this and any positive influence I could have on them may have contributed to breaking their chains. Frankly we need to rescue kids like this from people like his mom if we are going to extinguish that culture of hatred.

#12 | Posted by leadbelly at 2017-12-11 09:00 PM | Reply

Let's say the stories of the bullying reversal are true. Even then, the kids bigoted behavior is just aping what he sees from mom and the small world she surrounds him with. But she made a mistake here in that he is now exposed to a larger world. The larger world can eaither work to counter the toxic home life this kid is dealing with or it can drive him into mama's tatted up Nazi arms.

Kids can be redeemed. Taking out our disgust at mom on the kid is the wrong play.

Kids can be redeemed

All humans except child molesters can be redeemed. This woman did nothing but pose beside a flag and you are condemning her humanity.

And you wonder why you lost the election.

#13 - I agree that the larger world already differentiates the purity of Keaton's "criticized for being different" from his mother's unwelcome "I thought whites help each other out" crack. This is going to also expand her experiences hauling the fam to these cool events as special guests and inveritably meeting a variety of non-white shades - the terrorism!

Updated Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, 6:13 p.m. EST: It seems as though no one can verify the authenticity of the alleged Instagram account belonging to Kimberly Jones. The previous Instagram account below has been wiped of its profile photo, and a Wayback Machine search showed that it once belonged to a teenager, who may be playing an Instagram hoax and selling verified Instagram accounts.

Updated Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, 3:10 p.m. EST: Apparently Kimberly Jones is not the owner of a verified Instagram account, and Joe Schilling was communicating with an alleged fake profile:

It's just that people raise their kids with a set of values. You call other's racist for the very same "values" you are putting in your kids.

Bozo, do you have kids? And if you do, have taught them that they are second class citizens because of the color of their skin? Because that's what the douchebags you defend so vehemently believe.

Roy Moore would like to rescind all the Amendments after 10, so he thinks you should not have the vote or equal protection under the law. Moore is vocal about that, but there are plenty of Talibaptists who believe the same thing. There was a lot of talk on Faux Gnus about that Robertson idiot's comments a year or so ago that black people were better off under slavery. Some Faux pundits even tried to spin that as a good thing. Moore even said that the last time America was great was when slavery was legal.

BLOTUS is no better, federally sanctioned for violations of the Fair Housing Act. Demanding the Central Park 5 be executed EVEN AFTER THEY WERE EQUITED.

So tell me, do you think you are 3/5 of a man who should be bought and sold, whipped and abused as some white mans property? Because there are more than a few on the Reich who support that philosophy but I've never heard somebody on the left utter something similar. Look at how hard the Reich and racists have tried to alter the historical cause of the Civil War, and honor treasonous bastards who fought against their country so that black people could remain property. You are truly screwed up. Get some help!

Gunslinger,

I don't live to always be thinking about Race. Neither do the people I deal with. That's all the progressives/democrat party think about. I try not to be around people who are always on race watch. I try not to be around people who see everything through the prism of race. I didn't teach my kids anything about race. I instead taught them how to make sure racism racism doesn't affect them.

In my opinion, being concerned about racism is racist in itself.

So then when you taught them "how to make sure racism racism doesn't affect them."

You were being racist. Because you were concerned about racism affecting them.

Just when you thought you had heard it all.

"being concerned about racism is racist."

You are a very strange troll. You live in a Fantasyland
No wonder you support trump and his ridiculous lies.

Seems when it comes to confronting racism, it's never the right time or place. Where have we heard this before?

Don't take a knee during the pregame national anthem to oppose racial injustice and police violence -- it disrespects the flag and veterans.

Don't protest questionable police shootings of African-Americans -- it hurts officer morale.

Don't mention a lack of diversity during awards season -- the nominations have nothing to do with race.

Don't discuss racism at home. -- It's racist.

To a lesser extent, Rosa Parks.
