Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, December 09, 2017

David Weigel, Washington Post: Stand Up Republic, a 501(c)4 group co-founded by former independent anti-Trump presidential candidate Evan McMullin, is spending $500,000 on digital and TV ads that ask Alabama conservatives to reject Republican nominee Roy Moore's Senate bid. ... "Stand Up Republic believes that the character of our elected leaders has great influence over the character of our nation," said McMullin. "We must oppose candidates that fail even the most basic ethical standards and reject the idea that temporary political advantage justifies abandoning our values. Roy Moore is unworthy of a seat in the U.S. Senate. The credible allegations against him, his history as a judge, and his many discriminatory statements demonstrate that he does not respect the dignity and safety of young girls, has no commitment to the rule of law, and no respect for religious liberty."

Beverly Young Nelson says that part of the inscription in the yearbook she provided as evidence of Roy Moore's interest in her as an underage girl was written by her. It had previously been ascribed to Roy Moore by her and her legal counsel, Gloria Allred.

Nelson does not say that she intended to forge his writing, but rather that it was a notation added by her to remember the details of the inscription.

True conservatives are running ads against Roy Moore.

Probably too little too late to save the moral compass of the Republican Party.

@#4 ... Do they REALLY want saving??? ...

From what I've read and heard, some Evangelical Christians in Alabama have started to identify more as just Christians, dropping the Evangelical part because they feel Evangelical Christians support immorality (in this instance, Mr Moore and Pres Trump).

So something seems to be changing. To what extent, how quickly, and for how long is still unknown.

#1 I see the pedo-bros are out in force. Just admit it that it is your deeply held belief that grown men should be able to fondle little girls.

I've always thought that was a conveniently strange addition - the timestamp and location. She did that with direct intention, but she did NOT forge the signature.

When you read the other waitresses details - Moore was very much a "regular" at the Ol'Hickory, he had a regular seat and would regularly attempt to play with Beverly's hair.. He's twice her age, many professional witnesses - including three police officers are confirming his nature - he was banned from a mall for stalking and harassing young girls.

District Attorney Roy Moore did sign high school student Beverly Nelson's yearbook and about a week later assaults her behind her workplace. He not only seems predatory with callous denials, but his every single action.

Moore and Trump represent what Republicans have become. They're not your daddies Republicans but they're what Newt and Grover Norquist made them into.

Richard W. Painter‏ @RWPUSA

Alabama voters almost certainly won't send a pedophile to the Senate, but if that were to happen, Al Franken and Governor Dayton should put their plans on hold until that new senator is expelled.

Don't get too excited.

The morons will dismiss these conservatives as RINOs and not loyal to the Republican Party.

Moore the child molester will win Pedobama.

What's clear is, there's no rational to Trumpublicans.

Pedo-bros - that's perfect.

As for GOP campaign music, don't be silly, that song is too dated. They've moved ahead (well, okay, to the late '60s): youtu.be

Anti-Trump Conservatives, that's a laugh.

#12 - They are out there.

What I found interesting is a good friend who said he would vote for Hillary over Trump before the election and saying he thought she would make a great President for months before almost sounded like he wanted to take that back recently. He is not a Trump fan at all but it was just his tone... As a matter of fact he is disgusted by Trump. He happens to live in Texas so his vote didn't really matter. He can't stand Trump, Trump and the GOP's tax plan, etc. And he is a guy that makes bank - says he will see a significant tax cut especially since Texas doesn't have a state income tax but he is still against it. To quote him "That tax cut as proposed in the Senate is heading down a path to ruining this country and the House's version is even worse."
