Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

There may be more the public doesn't know about former FBI Director James Comey's private conversations with President Trump. That's the strong suggestion from the Justice Department, as it argues against releasing the memos Comey wrote about his conversations with Trump to media organizations. In court filings on Wednesday, the department hinted that the documents include information that was not part of the ex-FBI chief's public testimony before a Senate panel earlier this year. Several media organizations, including USA Today's parent company Gannett, are suing the government for release of the documents, including Trump's alleged requests for Comey's personal "loyalty" and to drop his investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn. Yet Justice is arguing that disclosure of the communications "might prematurely reveal ... the nature, scope, direction and focus of its investigations" involving Russia's interference in the 2016 election.

The memos outline Comey's nine contacts with the president, parts of which the former director made public prior to his June testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

2 guilty pleas and 3 charged sounds like progress.
How is that swamp draining going?
Is it time to stop that too?
Is it time to admit Hillary did nothing illegal since no charges have been laid after decades of investigations?

The federal judge presiding over the FBI's case against Michael Flynn recused himself from the case this week for unknown reasons.
What happened?

Judge Rudolph Contreras, who sits on the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., and was appointed by former President Barack Obama, recused himself from the case on Thursday, court filings show, Politico reported.

Contreras was replaced by Judge Emmet Sullivan via random selection. Sullivan is an appointee of former President Bill Clinton and will now preside over the sentencing portion of the Flynn case.

Contreras had previously scheduled both sides to report back to him on the status of their agreement by Feb. 1, but with the justice change, it's not clear when the case will be resolved.

@#3 ... Nothing to do with russian collusion bor. ...

Since collusion in and of itself is not a crime, it would be a waste for Mr Mueller to investigate collusion.

However, Mr Mueller is working within the guidelines given to him Republican administration and Congress.

To quote fmr Spkr Gingrich

Robert Mueller is superb choice to be special counsel. His reputation is impeccable for honesty and integrity. Media should now calm down

@#7

Since Mr Flynn was flipped by Mr Mueller, I've been noticing an increasing chorus of Republicans trying to cast aspersions upon Mr Mueller and his investigation.

Apparently, Mr Flynn working with and for Mr Mueller worries some Republicans greatly.

Makes me wonder why they are so concerned.

A lifelong, hardcore dem appointed him, not the republicans. His wife ran for some political office as a dem and hiltibeast gave her a big campaign donation. At least get your story straight before trying to BS the rest of us.

The witch hunt is rotten to the core.

Yet another top FBI agent involved in Mueller's investigation is being accused of political bias

Chris Enloe Weekend Editor

Another lead FBI agent in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation is being accused of political bias, the Wall Street Journal reported.
What's going on?

According to the Journal's report, FBI agent Andrew Weissmann, who is leading the probe's Paul Manafort and Rick Gates cases, both attended Hillary Clinton's election night party at the Javits Center in New York City and praised Sally Yates' efforts to thwart President Donald Trump.

The revelations are significant because Weissmann is considered to be the most senior agent in the investigation second only to Mueller. The New York Times even described Weissmann as Mueller's "pit bull" and "lieutenant."

You are a liar, Sniper.

Comey and Mueller are both life long Republicans. Fer Keerighst sake, Comey had a 'Trump' yard sign up during the election.

Donnie Trump was communicating clandestinely with Wikileaks during the campaign. Trump publicly asked for Russian help to further discredit Hillary. Manafort violated the law. There was a quid quo pro between Trump Campaign and Russia to "rip up" sanctions. Trump refuses to execute the sanctions law in order to benefit a foreign adversary.

You are so full of it your eyes are brown.

Just curious Snippy? Did you get all bent out of shape over the Pres. Clinton "witch hunt". Saying what a waste it was...because it was. That went on for what??????5 years? Why don't you give this more than 5 minutes to play out?

" I've been noticing an increasing chorus of Republicans trying to cast aspersions upon Mr Mueller and his investigation."

This is typical Trump m.o. And it's not just Mueller. Trump, along with a number of Republican congressmen have hit the airways in an effort to discredit the entire FBI. I think we're all familiar with the way Trump operates when he gets his butt in a sling. If he can't kill the message, he kills the messenger. However, the harder he tried, the more guilty he looks.

The chorus of Republicans who are joining the hunt to kill the investigation are just as guilty as Trump and I look forward to the mid-terms when they try to defend themselves for such cowardly un-American behavior. I guess they're afraid of going down with the ship when Mueller makes his final recommendation to the DOJ.

Also, I hope SNIPER wises up. He's going to be eating crow for a long time if he doesn't.

#14 Sniper won't eat crow because he never admits her is wrong. He told me a few months that Sen McCaskill was cancelling town hall meetings and avoiding voters. That statement was made three same day she held 3 town hall meetings in Missouri and just a couple days after I had attended one of her meetings. That of course went with acknowledgement. When Trump resigns, Sniper will claim it is because Trump accomplished his goals and wants to retire and enjoy America's in all of its new found greatness

Would someone remind me what they are trying to prove with the special counsel?

It isn't collusion because there is no law against that.

And? You can't take out ANYONE who has a political opinion. You wouldn't have anyone left...but that's the plan, right? You won't be happy until its Mike Pence and Trump Jr running the investigation.

And witch hunt? They've already charged multiple people.

Sniper, you are just scared that they are finding things. You're scared Trump is going down. And frankly, you should be. The ship is sinking. The smart rats are fleeing.
