San Juan County Sheriff Ken Christesen told reporters that three people believed to be students died Thursday at Aztec High School. He said the shooter also was dead but didn't say if the suspect was among the three. The school is located in the Four Corners region and is near the Navajo Nation, about 180 miles north of Albuquerque.

Remember back when a story like this was shockingly unusual, and provoked wonder and discussion; and was considered unspeakably tragic and heartbreaking?

Ah, good times, boys and girls.

How quaint.

But then Columbine stole our horror.

We have not the ability to grieve these anymore.

It's just business as usual.

Only in America.

During hunting season most of the guys had guns in their cars when I went to school. We even brought them to school when we were going jackrabbit hunting during the winter. No school shooting then.

Ever heard of Charles Whitman? My mother was a physics student at UT when he did that, August 1, 1966. He killed 17 people and wounded another 31. Not to mention killing his wife and mom earlier in the day.

The earliest school shooting was on July 26, 1764 in Greencastle, PA. Ten dead, 2 injured.
