Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, December 06, 2017

[S]tate Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R-PA) was the victim of a gentle arm-touch during a committee meeting, and lashed out at fellow lawmaker, Democratic Rep. Matt Bradford. As Bradford tried to finish a thought by gently patting Metcalfe on the forearm (over his clothes), Metcalfe went on a rant about how he loves his wife, and doesn't like men, and could he please go molest some Democrats who might like that sort of thing: "Look, I'm a heterosexual. I have a wife, I love my wife. I don't like men, as you might. [ ... ] Stop touching me all the time. It's like, keep your hands to yourself. Like if you want to touch somebody, you have people on your side of the aisle that might like it. I don't."

"I'm like married. To a woman. With, like, a vagina. Ask my cat, his name is, like, Mr Whiskers."

We'll be hearing about Daryl (will always be a hick name because of Newhart) in some gay tryst within 2 years.

The Democrat whose touch freaked out the Republican isn't gay. He is married to a woman and they have four kids.

It's amazing this guy is wound so tight that a light touch on the arm turns him into Out-of-Control Homophobe Man in a government hearing. He has issues.

I think what we're learning is a lot of people with sexual problems end up in government, presumably because it provides a constant, ahem, stream of constituents and staffers to inflict their sexual problems on.

Not to go all SJW on this topic, but Metcalfe was very offensive in his statements, implying Bradford was gay.

Bradford is a gay-sounding name. No citation necessary!

Yeah....issues.

You see everyone else laughing in that committee.

He's wound right. He needs a stiff ---- to calm him down.

Years ago a friend of mine lightly touched a female colleague's arm after she told him her mother was in the hospital, near death. His colleague, who was of Asian descent, later reported him for sexual harassment. He was called into to his boss's office. He didn't get fired or reprimanded, but he was reminded that not everyone views a casual touch the same way. What he meant as a comforting gesture was seen as a sexual violation. In the end, my friend was warned to be cognizant of cultural as well as gender differences. He is of Italian descent, and traditionally Italians are much more emotional and demonstrative than the Chinese.

I had a gay panic attack once. I was in the doctors office to get a prostrate exam. As I bent over the doctor said,"relax" as he started probing my prostrate with his finger.

Then I suddenly noticed that both of his hands were on my shoulders.

Was I wrong to panic?

It wasn't sexual harassment, but this is why there is a phrase that goes "Do you need a hug?"

imo, this is an example of what happens when the sexual harassment pendulum swings too far.

When I tap the forearm of a friend or a colleague to get her/his (fwiw, English really needs a pronoun for this) attention, is that sexual, or is it just me tapping his/her forearm to get his/her attention.

We need to maintain the level of sanity to distinguish between typical human interactions, and interactions with the intent of control.

Yet if it was a woman claiming a grope 3 years later, you'd be rushing to defend her.

SCOTUS got it right requiring unwelcome persistent and extreme (often illegal behaviors), as sexual harassment. But, some people are afraid of any touching.

This reminds me of that study which showed that people with the most homophobic beliefs were also the most physically turned on by images of gay porn.

#23 | Posted by JOE at 2017-12-07 11:23 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 2

Here it is.

"The men were exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual, and lesbian videotapes, and changes in penile circumference were monitored...Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile -------- to male homosexual stimuli."

I'm pretty sure the fella in question enjoys his fair share of "man sausage", from time to time, and just hasn't dealt with his cravings for it.

Yeah, but my friend didn't attempt to hug his colleague, and I never heard the phrase, "Do you need a light touch on your arm?"

Metcalfe has ZERO business on a civil rights committee other than to obstruct gay rights. I wonder how long he was a member? He seems too prepared with his "complaint" to legitimately be annoyed by his colleagues pat, he uses any and all tactics.. Republican scum.

I wish there was some way to legally challenge and remove his flavor of zealot.

He asked him not to touch him repeatedly we only saw the blow up after his wishes were ignored I see no problem in what he said and did.
